Arizona speed and marine has an EFI setup for those engines, nice package

Two for two today. Second time out and second time back! :) Ran another 40 or so miles today and the motors ran well. Still running my 30 pitch props during the "break in" period. Ran it up to 5200+ for a stint and was running in the low 80's. Not enough prop. I figure I will need a set of 34's to tap 100 when I am ready to go for it.

5400rpm. I ran the heck out of them last week. All the way to San Diego, in and around San Diego, and all the way home. Probably 220+ miles over four days. Engines ran perfectly with the exception of the carbs which need adjusting/modifying. The Demon carbs that come stock on the motors are not marine carbs. The floats inside the bowls bounce around like heck in rough water which makes the engines load when flying off swells. Normal boating in flat water has no effect on them but if you launch it - the engines gurgle due to the excess fuel.

I am testing props right now. Have a set of 32s on the boat that are too small pitch-wise. I think I need 34s or need to do a gear ratio change from 1.5 to 1.36. Do not like the idea of running 34s due to the load they place on the drives, etc. I can easily spin the 32s to 5400. Was running about 86-87 with the 32s. If I can spin the 34s to the same rpm I should be well into the mid-90's.

So far so good!

Sounds great.

Keep us updated with how the big chevys are doing.

These look like a great way to go for 600 + hp w/o going apesh*t on blowers etc.

The secret is to do the right clerancing/set-up before installing. The components in the engines are top notch.

JC,
How are they running? Did you ever get the right props dialed in?? Looking forward to seeing some running shots from the SCOPE poker run.

I am interested in how you dealt with the fuel float bouncing.

I have been looking into using one of these bad boys I heard there was some exhaust valve issues, was that part of the clearance problem or was that simply reverson?
Could you tell me what I should pay particular attention to if I buy one of these ?
Sounds like a sea demon would help

Haven't received the parts yet from the Barry Grant guys. They are supposed to be sending some small pieces that are in their marien carbs that are not on the car versions. However, it has not really been an issue since that one severly rough day in San Diego. Running in average conditions doesn't affect it.

The valve guides do neet to be honed due to the different tolerances between and automotive and marine application. The work that Paul Pfaff did cost about $2500 per motor. I have had no issue with reversion thus far. A Sea Demon would help.
