bouyhunter: what kinda boat are ya looking for? i know its not a whole lot like a 28 cig, but in the oso classifieds there is a 79 pantera 24 (could most likely be trailered wit ur current vehicle) and the entire boat is like brand new (custom paint, fiberglass fairing, interior at pantera, dash, new 454, turnkey setup) asking 22 grand in tennessee. its not my boat, just its been in there awhile and looks like an awesome boat imo. :drink:

Considering the weight of the boats I'm looking at, I might as well be driving a 1980 Renault "Le' Car", 4-speed, inline 1.4l.

Actually, I'm running a 96' C1500 - it's been a great truck and only has 54K on it (I bought it 2 years ago with low miles, and I only live 2 miles from work..) - but max tow is 6500lbs. When it comes to these old boats that over 25', that just isn't gonna cut it. I never should have gotten rid of my 2000 K3500 - but had a career change, and no boat at the time, so it was somewhat overkill.

I've been thinking about Pantera. I've also been browsing for Saber 28's.
I was hoping to get into the 28ish range with twins - but I'll take a look at that Pantera.
Thanks for the heads-up.

Bouyhunter,
I towed my boat about 500 miles when I picked it up with a '95 k1500 Chevy and it did just fine. The truck also had like 175000 miles on it at the time. The ramp is only like a mile from my house though, and I have a new truck, ...but, if you have a good local ramp, don't worry about it.

Sean,
The hatch is stock but re-upholstered, it was red in Muscle Boats, and I removed the sun pad. It was raised 4 inches to clear the exhaust and carb. I'm building new race hatches now. I fitted them up today and it makes it look like a totally different boat.
I'll take some pictures of it later this week in anyone wants to see it.
In the meantime, heres a couple pics of what the old exhaust looks like and what the new stuff will look like.

old style is too big to attach, look at the other picture
Heres one of it running. If I was more computer literate I'd post the video. It sounds good with dry pipes!

In post 26 you can see why I'm building a new hatch. The sides weren't even fiberglassed, it was just upholstered wood. It must be good wood though. over 20 years and no rot.

Dangerous Dave

Who is building your hatch? I could use a raised hatch to clear to manifolds. I'm very curious of this.

I'm building it. I'm a master at carpentry and fiberglass work. I'll post some pics soon. It's a little like the a Tiger hatch mixed with a Scarab 38KV
