I just figured out the real deal it's not a Cigarette. It's a Lear. Some people on another board found some ebay listings for it. Not a cig at all.

The boat could be had for mid forties. It's a nice boat but it's not the great deal I thought it was. Could still be worth it but not when I already have one boat I'm still trying to sell.

Thanks anyhow everyone.

There was a thread on here a while ago about those Lears. I guess they are straight splashes/copies of the Top Gun.

If you are looking to run a Cig, go with the "real deal". No need to have to justify a "knock off" at the docks. If ride quality and hull longevity are important to you, go for #1. It's hard to tell that this ol' gal is over 15 years old. And the light weight layup is good for a 60 MPH cruise speed at over 1 GPM. Even at WOT she is low to mid 70s with .89 GPM. This is fantastic mileage given the size of these boats and the price at the gas pump. She is even on a newer trailer.

If you have any more questions, feel free to call me on my cell 714 726-8224.

I'm the one who started that tread about the 91 Lear. I left a message to the guys/ company that used to built it to know a little more about these boats...never returned my call. He's in the bathtub and spa business in florida. I still think 45 is cheap for the size of that boat. Blown GM stock crate engines were my worries. So I did not go further...

I agree! The only reaon I was intrested in this one was because I thought it was a real cig and at 45k for a real cig I knew it was a steal.

I have to sell mine first before I move into something else. Unless I can buy it very right.

I have done a lot of reading on the ZZ's and there is definatly mixed feelings. From what I have been reading it seems if they were detuned to 650, or 700 max hp they should be just fine. There are a lot of guys running them at 800. The short blocks are solid, most feel the heads need inconel valvels on the exhaust side. They definatly need a cam change.

I feel the mils, trannies and drives alone are worth close to 45k. So I still feel the boat is a steal. If I didn't already have a boat I would offer him 38k and see what he said. I would much rather have a real cig. But I would never find a real cig like this for any where near 45k.

From eBay:

Vehicle Description
- Boat is a replica of the Cigarette Top Gun.
- Engines are Twin 502 cu in BBC with BDS 8-71 Superchargers with intercoolers.
- Hubert Marine Transmissions and # 3 Speed Master Drives with aftermarket lowers.
- Props are 32 pitch 4 blade.
- Mayflower power sterring with K Plane trim tabs.
- Driveline has less than 1 season with very low hours.
- Interior and paint above rub rail new less than 1 year.
- Cabin finished and new canvas.

I'd be concerned about the Mayflower steering! It must have a big wooden rudder on the back!

Supposed to be Kevlar Hull?
2 new GM 502 crate motors (car motors) 502/502
Cams were changed for blower setup
1471 Blowers
Super chillers
4 brand new 800 cfm holley marine carbs
MSD retard controllers
Huber trannys Newer less than 70 hours
Merc # 3 drives Newer as well less than 70 hours
Deck has fresh paint all white
Hull is original gel coat but is in pretty good condition I'd say 8 out of 10
Comes with tri axel trailer.
Full cuddy all original needs re done
Gauges all original but all work.

Motors the way he has them set up is a claimed 900 hp. He keeps blowing them up from detonation which does not suprise me do to the fact they are only gm crate motors and he is trying to get 900hp out of them.

! motor is brand new never fired the other was run last year only for a total of 20 hours max.

I would think if they were de tuned to 600 or 650 hp they should be fairly reliable.

The boat has ran a claimed 107 mph? In current config.

Thats pretty much what I know so far. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. I am very intrested in this boat and will most likely buy it. I'm looking for varying opions on what it might be worth.

I and the boat are located in Cleveland Ohio area. It is and always was a fresh water boat.

Thanks Rob

My 97 Kevlar Covergirl ran 81 mphGPS with stock merc 600SC power and with new big power boost on stun 900+hp we did a best of 94 mph gps low fuel two men in the fall. We have since taken a lot of boost out and @ 750 to 800hp she now runs mid to high 80s. I would be very careful of any type of crate motor, your looking for big trouble especially with boost. Good Luck!
