KWIKSS 06-10-2009 08:58 AM

Seems like alot of work. I would just save my money and buy another TG. But then again I own a BAJA....:drink:

BAD ENOUGH 06-10-2009 08:22 PM

It is a lot of work. But it's a cigarette and it's worth it. I will know every inch of my boat's construction and every system in it. I love working on it too.I just bought resin and gel coat today for this weekends portside repair. It's really exciting to see it start coming along now. Oh yeah, it's paid for too.:drink:

BDiggity 06-10-2009 08:26 PM

Voice of reason

Beautiful boat and I truly admire your fortitude..
However the heat from that fire has done damage to the laminate you will never see until the boat is stressed and begins to fail.
Cut your losses and scrap that boat.

BAD ENOUGH 06-14-2009 08:00 PM

Yeah, uh that's probably not gonna happen. Thanks for playing though.

Ok good luck when the bottom peels off :lolhit:

BAD ENOUGH 06-14-2009 08:57 PM

The bottom is fine. The floor was even still in it. All of the brittle or delaminated pieces were removed and are being replaced with new material. This is my own personal boat. I will not build it to be unsafe. The two guys in the pictures work in boat manufacturing and repair as their trade. They see no problems on how we are doing this, and believe it will be as strong as ever.

Hey....It looks like a boat again!!:drink:

Seems you've picked up the pace on the project. Any deadline set?

BAD ENOUGH 06-14-2009 10:11 PM

Thanks Tank , Hopefully one year from now it'll be ready or almost ready. Maybe all but one engine or something like that.I would like to have the hull done by Christmas and then start rigging.:drink:

Are you planning on re-building the cabin to original, custom, cover girl style, or no cabin like the F-2 boats?

Have you picked out paint yet?

Since the boat is torn all the way down, you should really look what Havasu Hanging did with his interior. He tore into the gunwalls to add more room (storage/lighting/speakers) and allow for a wider rear bench (more like a Skater).

Just another option. Might as well look at them all when you're torn down this far.

c_deezy 06-15-2009 12:30 AM

Man I've taken on some big projects but this one seems huge. Good luck with it.

customryder 06-15-2009 05:59 PM

you can buy a un-burn boat now for less than you will have in that.. Just a thought...

Please do yourself a favor and stop dumping money in this..

not as a hater but as a friend on oso....

nova26 06-15-2009 08:20 PM

Love watching redos, very cool.

Bad Enough, I applaud your inspiration !

VetteLT193 06-19-2009 10:00 AM

Good luck. this would be an awesome thread if it weren't for the people that feel they MUST put their 2 cents in and tell you not to do it when they haven't even seen the boat in person. Retards.

I hope it comes out fantastic, better than new, and you have a blast with it.

I can swim just fine. Hey , don't you have a carerra forum to go stink up ?????? :grinser010:Maybe those guys aren't as interesting as cig guys.:evilb::kiss:

Roger 1 06-21-2009 12:07 PM

My hat is off to you for taking on this project and having the perseverance to see it through. Just a tip. With a project like this, when you run low on perseverance, a stubborn streak can sometimes bridge the gap.
Good luck and keep going.

Roger

hurleyr 06-21-2009 01:26 PM

Keep it up Travis. Its looking good. Like I've said before just prove em wrong. :)

cigarette38topgun 06-21-2009 10:56 PM

Its awsome to see someone tackle a project like this! I know their are a lot o guys wishing they could afford a cig and you found out a way to put yourself in one thats within your budget. Best of all it will be exactly how you want it to look when you are finished with it. Keep up the labor of love! I would like to check it out in person when its finished.

MF 06-22-2009 04:43 AM

These are the kind of threads that helps me to stay put on mine...been 3 years that i bought my cig and so far i only stripped it and sprayed primer on the sides...lot of other things happened on the way, like finding that the one you sold the other boat gave you a fake check and started stripping the old boat...I later found her in teh middle of the stripping all opened in the rain and sun ....so now i ended up with two projects.....and the person who tried to joke me disappeared...Damn !!!
Keep on motivating !

88scarab 09-22-2009 09:22 PM

hey just was wondering if there are any updates on the boat

jeff32 09-22-2009 09:39 PM

yep! good point!
