youd have to pay me 162k to be seen in that thing.... why would u pait that on a boat?

5k to repaint the hatch and you have a bad ass rig, the rest of the boat is awsome, the hatch freaks me out a little

That boat in person is worse than in the photos. It is one unflattering paint job. And how about the cockpit? No comment.

I could live with the paint scheme with the exception of the hatch- women in chains/ fairy princess/ gladiator looks better on an El Camino

What about this one ??

http://www.offshoreonly.com/esvon/page-11021.html

You can't say this one is ugly, it's been for sale for a LONG time, maybe it's an indication of the TRUE value of these boats.

Maybe the lack of a cabin? rubrail?

That second one is super nice. The first one's hatch has gotta go. I think that's the mural from Cheech's van in Up in Smoke.....

Ours is for sale at $169,000. The ad just ran out. The cockpit on the first boat is just blahhhh. It's all dull colors. I saw the boat in person when it was brand new. It didnt look too bad in person in the water.

OL40SVX 11-29-2006 10:02 PM

Re: 2003 gladiator seems like a helluva deal !!

For the no rub rail comments, the side crease on Cigarettes sticks out farther than the rub rail. So in fact it does nothing what so ever, and if you know how to drive/dock a boat there should also be no need for a rub rail.

If I could sell my boat one of those two would be mine. The owner of the first one is willing to talk numbers, and the second one is perfect the way it is. I would prefer a staggared set up. I like the interior on the first one but agree the paint sux. That boat would look great with a classic 2-tone black &white or red &white scheme.

SOMEONE PLEASE BUY MY KRYPTONITE! :(

The best deal out there on a Gladiator by far. That is jawbreakerkid's boat and he keeps his stuff perfect.

He said something about selling because he can't see over the fairing without sitting on 2 PFD's :D :D

The first one's paint looks like a scene copied from a video game

Re: 2003 gladiator seems like a helluva deal !!

No cabin and no rubrail are what turned me onto the Gladiator. I think the Gladiator has the sharpest lins and look of any boat out there. As far as a cabin goes, It was nice to have one to store stuff, but if you dont mind climbing down into the front hatch, there is PLENTY of storage space.

I am totally happy going from the Tiger to the Gladiator

That's not a staggered boat...which in my opinion is why it is priced the way it is...

The engine hatch on that first Gladiator is seriously disturbing. It looks like it could get the owner on the sex offenders list...

What gets me is that somebody actually requested this paint job  Nice boat but I'd have to deduct 20k right from the start for paint/interior work.

The paint job belongs on the side of a full size van, with round porthole windows and shag carpet.

But, I still think you would have a hard time selling the van!

How about the Fire and Ice Outerlimits or several other OL,s that have been for sale for years? Are they overvalued as well? Don,t forget, there are NOT alot of people who will plunk down serious cake for a boat you cannot sleep on or $hit on.The Gladiator, like the OL appeals to a very small crowd. It is alot easier to buy one of these boats than to sell one.

I'm in the Christmas spirit. If you have any interest, I'll make someone a heck of a deal and even throw in a big red bow so you can park it under the tree for Christmas morning!

Regarding staggered vs. non-staggered, I'll put this boat up against any staggered Gladiator w/ similar power. The extra room in the cockpit is nice for cooler storage, something a staggered version doesn't have.

If they are not selling than they are overvalued as far as selling price goes. Its price (value) is set by the buyer (market) not the seller.

Or it could be condition.

As I recall, the first Gladiator mentioned above was the Miami Boat Show demo but I could be wrong......I've been on the boat as well and it ran 93 MPH in a nice chop.

Re: 2003 gladiator seems like a helluva deal !!

I'm interested in one of them. I've always wanted a Gladiator, sometime in Jan. hopefully I'll be shopping for one. I'm also going to look at Dreamers 35 if it's still available. I don't really want a 38, it seems too big, slow, and bulky to me. It's a tough call between Dreamers boat and one of these.

otis311 11-30-2006 09:23 AM

Re: 2003 gladiator seems like a helluva deal !!

Both Dreamers and JBK's boat are top notch. You have to decide if you want a cabin or not.

Its like comparing a Caddilac to a corvette. Cant go wrong either way !!!!

The Outerlimits you're speaking of are FAR more money, we're talking about a sweet looking Gladiator for 139k.

BTW, why are you watching the OL's for sale so closely...looking to step up ?? ;)

Sean, Explain to me why a staggered would be worth so much more. My side by side handles and flys absolutly perfect and have ridden in a staggered and didnt notice much, if any difference in ride or handling. Aside from working room on the engines themselves I dont see that big of an advantage or extra value

Educate me please

Bob

Re: 2003 gladiator seems like a helluva deal !!

Well, staggered looks cool. And that's about it as far as pleasure use goes.

OK, mechanics like it because there's more room to work on the engines. But, I'd rather have more cockpit space than engineroom space because if you plan to spend more time in the engineroom than in the cockpit, you've got the wrong toy anyway.

It's really intended for racing where a minor advantage in balance, handling, etc. makes all the difference. And I guess that is where the cool factor comes from. It looks "all business"...

berns29scarab 11-30-2006 10:03 AM

Re: 2003 gladiator seems like a helluva deal !!

have always been told that the Gladiators like more transom weight anyway so that to me would make a side by side more desireable

pm203 11-30-2006 10:08 AM

Re: 2003 gladiator seems like a helluva deal !!

Actually, I prefer the shorter staggered cockpit over the longer one. With the longer one, your rear seat passengers are too far away from the front seats and the grab bars. With the shorter cockpit, they are closer and can grab the front seat bars and make their ride a little more safer as well as enjoyable. Also, don,t forget there are narrow and wide cockpit versions. Any new Glads built now will all be staggered, narrow cockpits. Is a staggered Glad worth more? Yes, probably because they are the newer style setup and overall newer( model years) than the side by side versions. They are ALL great running boats that are a blast to own and drive!
