Next round of Anyone Know this GUN???

1 Attachment(s)
I've been looking around in the Top Gun market now that the Spectre sold and came across this one. It's a '99 with HP500EFI's and Bravo 1 drives with around 200 hours. It's located in North Carolina. Anyone seen it around, have any input on it? Trying to get as much info as I can before I fly out from Phoenix to take a look at it.

Thanks,

Jordan

dont know anything about it, I do like the paint on it. I had the same sceme on my 94 Gun

jordy 02-13-2007 02:40 PM

Yeah, I think I can live with the paint. A couple of the others I've looked at were a little bit over the top in the paint department.

I also like the gooseneck trailer with the tandem duals. ;)

That 'a baby Jordy....Bring another Cig out west!:drink:

How do the TGs run with the 500s? I am looking at a 98 Lipship w/ Bulldog 500s and am not really sure they are enough power for the boat. Dealer said it will run 84mph. That seems ambitious to me, but Im not sure to be honest. It is a full cabin boat. I would appreciate some input.

Thanks. Mark

Gotta do something to populate the West with GREAT boats. Spectre moving out West kind of killed it for me. Time to focus my attention elsewhere.

My TG with 500HPs does 70 .

Wild 02-13-2007 05:48 PM

mine goes 75 all day 78.4 in salt on a cool day

scarabman 02-13-2007 07:14 PM

Thanks guys. I was figuring if it ran 74-75 it was lucky at best. I am I correct in believing that the Lipship additions are just a better dressed version of a factory TG? No performance enhancements?

Thanks again, Mark

Von Bongo 02-13-2007 08:41 PM

my 93 kevlar boat with 525sc's ran 74, i'm bettting 70 under most circumstances with 500's. Randy's is an ex race boat so I'd bet it's dialed in better than most and has a cover girl cabin, not a full one.

My 97 kevlar with 650 per side ran 78-79 with 28 bravo 1s turning out and conservative x, full fuel and gear.

If that boat runs 84 with true 500's then buy it, I don't think the twin steps with 525s run better than that on most days.

A buddy just bought a 94 with 500EFI's. Has nose cones if that helps much......74 suposedly, he just got it recently and hasn't hammered on it yet.

Thanks. Please ell me more about Lipship Edition TGs. As I asked earlier, is it simply a matter of dress, or is there something else that goes into them?

Regards, Mark

There was one for sale in Michigan last year with the same paint scheme but it had Chiefs in it. Super clean rig with fresh power. Somebody got a great boat.

I always thought that was a single step, sorry about that............... I swear there was one that was raced, F2-80, sponsered by havolinge, prolong, and Marin. What happened to F2-17, Hollywood offshore, That was a straight bottom............

Anyways, Thats a respectable speed for your boat Wild

That's right....Kevin Schulte's 94 Cafe with EFI500's/Bravos ran 72/73. He should see a bit more out of it since its a gun.

Lip-Ship boats are more than just dress for sure. Just ask anyone who ownes or has owned one.

thisistank 02-14-2007 06:52 PM

I would definately say a Lip-Ship boat is more than dress (though just the "dress" makes them worth it). He follows the boat from begining to end and goes over every detail. Then he some how always manages to squeek a bit more MPH out of it, and they're usually faster than a factory direct boat. So yea, I guess you can say it's more than just cosmetic.:D

Wild 02-14-2007 07:25 PM

the best part is when you have owned the boat for a while 1-2-3-4 or 5 months and its a saturday and you are boating and your phone rings and its phil and he asks you how your boat is.
that just blew me away

I know! I don't even have a Lip-Ship edition Cig. I didn't use it for a few months when we first got it and he kept calling, "did you use it yet? Well, go f*ckin' run it!!":D :D

We didn't buy our Lip-Ship Cig from Phil either but EVERYTIME I talk to him he wants to know how the F2 is. He's actually suprised we've had it this long being a car dealer....usually can't hold on to anything too long :drink:

scarabman 02-15-2007 05:55 AM

Thanks for the info. But just so I am clear, there is still no way a 98 Lipship is running anything close to 84mph on Bulldog 500s and Bravo drives?

What would you guys think the above described would be worth in good condition? In other words, what would be a fair purchase price? Thanks.

Regards, Mark

Wild 02-15-2007 06:20 AM

full cabin will run low 70s maybe

just buy mine

Blue by You 02-15-2007 06:54 AM

TG with HP500's or BullDog 500's or any 500's.... and- NO STEP.... 70-72MPH. In perfect conditions. If you want speed...you'll want to look at a TS version. Much faster with the same power.

To run 84MPH you'll need over 750HP in a non stepped hull.

Von Bongo 02-15-2007 08:43 AM

I think you can get 84 out of a non step (kevlar) with less than 750 but you're going to have to look at X deminsion and props pretty hard.

I'm going to run 680hp this year and going to play with some drive heights and props (herring) to see where we can get on a daily basis. We also removed the mufflers and went with downturns. With 650, conservative X and the props in and full time mufflers we saw 81 more than once with a mid weight load and summer conditions.

WIth he props out and a full load (full fuel, 4 people and 90+ temps) we got at least 77+ every day. So with 750 and the right set up I think you could get to the upper 80's and maybe even touch 90. We'll see.

Dennis B seems to have his set up pretty well and I think he's running in the 750ish range and near 90. At the shootout a couple years ago I know he was into the 90's but I don't know what kind of HP he had at that time.

But the answer to your original question. 84 with 500's in a full cabin boat. No Way.

I remember being in the canal behind TNT in the early nineties and seeing a boat with the exact same paint scheme being photographed. A cameraman was on top of the in water sling hoist taking pictures from above. A short time later Cig used the photo in an ad.
