Whats the power? i missed that.
Doc Colin disclosed it to me in a PM, so I will let him tell it if he so desires. I can tell you this much, my Firefox is supercharged and it will only go 82mph in a 2 ft wind chop. So, I was impressed with Colin's Firefox speed. My speed suffers from the parasitic loss of the rotating mass in the Huber trans and the #3SSM. Also let me add that neither of these Firefox's are flyweight, potatoe chip hulls. They are real heavy duty Old School 24 degree Offshore V bottoms. Quality! Ed |

Doc,
Its around 600hp and i think might be a tad less. If you look at the early pictures on the thread you'll see we cut out the transom, stringers, floor and teak and replaced everything with new material. The boat had a borg warrner trans and TRS drive which we eleminated and went with the Bravo XR ITS Sportmaster so that was a couple hundres pounds. Also i have the trans/drive if anyone wants to buy? We also virtually blue printed the bottom. But i'm still impressed with the speed we are seeing and Phil hasn't tried anything else yet. FYI to eveyone the new MYCO was suuposed to be delivered today. Also here's 2 pic's of the new cockpit cover going on. |
I've followed this project from the beginning and all I can saw is WOW! That has got to be one of the most awesome Cigarettes I have ever seen and the story behind it makes it even better. Of all the Cigarette models the 24 FireFox has always been one of my favorites and if I had one you can bet your @$$ I would have Phil work his magic on mine as well. I really hope you enjoy that hot rod you've had Phil and his crew build as much as I have enjoyed watching and reading about it on this thread. I have one question to all of the folks who read this... Does Cigarette still have the molds for this boat and if not who does?

I am so impressed and with the lakes I boat on a bullet is about as big as I would go. So this thing on my lake would be perfect. Another observation I have made is the interest this thing has had. I dont care if you like cigs or not this thing is a work of beauty. Even my wife who could give a sh** can see it. She is a work of art. Got a name yet? When are you going for a ride? |
The name has always been "Bad Hombre" so in our eyes it will always remain that.
I can't wait to ride in it and i dont' know when that will be. |

So why the top secret speed numbers?
Cmon, I don't think anyone cares if it's 70 on gps or 75 or 80. We know it's a kickin old school straight bottom hull. This thread can't be complete without numbers (and video!) It's like watching a musclecar build-up without seeing what she'll run in the quarter. Don't leave us hanging! |
76mph was the first run. Weather permitting Phil is going to try some different props out today.
|
I say 79 gps! Thats plent fast for me in a 20 ft boat.

The Boat is unreal
I saw the boat before it went to phils it was a Classic and now its going to be a master piece.
No one is talking about that its the Loudest single motor boat that you will ever hear! Cant wait for the boat to make it home or to see it in Lauderdale at the show. Casey Freeman GSM Legend Marine Group |
There is probably nothing to say that hasn't already been said about this boat & Im not sure but I think I commented earlier in this thread somewhere... But I just wanted to say congratulations again on the project & it looks absolutely amazing !!! It is without a doubt the best looking 24'ish Anything I have ever seen !! I love everything about it except the fact that its not sitting at my house.. lol...
I am a lover of the classics whether it be an offshore, or a classic hotrod ect..ect.. I really do appreciate & understand the time & effort along with the dedication from both parties it takes to complete a project like this & most importantly to do it right !! I have spent countless hours on many different projects in my life & I make a living paying careful attention to every little detail so I don't throw around complements like that lightly... As far as comments about how much $$ was spent on this boat , We all know that opinions will vary on that sort of thing & they always will & thats fine but I want to commend you on investing that kind of coin into it... Was it a wise investment as far as resale & return on your money ect...ect... I obviously don't know you personally but I will go ahead & say that I really don't think you give a crap about that... Again I really appreciate your valiant effort in doing your part of doing whatever it took to make this classic everything that it deserved to be !!! Besides rare & classic offshores as compaired to classic cars have been Way under appriciated for many years & efforts like yours & others help shine a little light on that issue... |

Cigracing1 - absolutely stunning boat congrats!
It looks like there is a lexan windscreen in some of the earlier photos and now it I do not see it... Did you and Phil decide it wasn't necessary to keep the bugs out of your teeth? The lines are fantastic (as is everything else!). |
Wow, that is nice!
|
Phil didn't like the look of the first windscreen he made so he's making a new one.
|
Hands down the best boat on the 'net :ernaehrung004:
Any pics of her on the new Myco? Congrats to you bud! Kurt |

Yes it is a cool boat.. Phil & his crew did a nice job.. :)
Jamie . |
VERY nice boat, but there one thing in the pics that i dont like.
I know air needs to go in to the enginecompartment, but where does it go out ? All the vents are pointing to the front, shouldnt the ones in the rear point the other way ? After a while the engine wil suck hot air because it cant go no where ?! :party-smiley-004: |
I just noticed its been almost exactly one year since you guys started the project
|
Any new pics with the boat on the trailer?
