24 Fire Fox headed to Lip-Ship
I had a great conversation with Phil Lipschutz on the restoration of my 24 Fire Fox. Were looking at a January start date and it could take up to year for completion. Its looking like it will get a Bravo ITS system with a nice size motor. The goal for the cockpit is to go with a Gladiator look.
|
Awesome, can't wait for some pics.
|
That sounds VERY cool!!!! Phil will do an amazing job I am sure.
|
Yea Phil sounds very enthused about doing the job and has already come up with some cool ideas.
I would love to see pics of the 20's he done so I can get some more ideas. I have seen Lil Max but i know he's done more. |
lets see some befores, whats she look like now, what year is it, whats it have for power now
|
It's a 1986 with a 502 and TRS. They only made a 11 so and this one was custom ordered from the factory. it doesn't have the center console and it came with a different engine hatch.
Pics on the way. |

Godd stuff! Can't wait to see progress pics. I'm sure it will be a masterpiece.
Wish I had the scratch to buy Ed's boat above and do the same. :ernaehrung004: Kurt |
1. Ed, don't you ever let anyone molest your 24!
2. Charlie, you should give that its own thread, it'll be gone in no time! |
Good luck with your new project!!! I'm sure it will be big fun. Check Phillys web-site under news. There are some good shots of my 20 from the plug to finish. It was the 1st one of the 4 new ones that cigarette punch out. Trust me, philly will have a million ideas for you. Good Luck!! Dino
|
Dino, is yours "Lil Max"? Phils's 20's are where i'm getting most of my ideas.
|
No. Lil Max is Sick Rick. That was a restore. Mine is on Phils web in the News section...Dino

You should choose your own graphics. That's half the fun!! |
Yea I excited about the grapic design part. Phil just wants to know what colors we want first.
|
Teak decks and twin engines not likely a FireFox which is only a little over 7 feet wide.

Cool project. I was stunned to think it was going to eat 100K in the process for 24 feet of boat but after thinking about the Shelby Donzi's last year that were 80K, 100K doesn't sound terrible. |
The Cigarette Firefox was introduced in 1986. Previous to this model, Cigarette built the 24 in various forms with various decks.
|
As far as a narrow beam boat with twin engines go, I looked at one of Aronow's Banana Boats (Satan's Chariot) that had twin small block Fords stuffed into a 6-1/2' beam boat.
|
We are basically starting over. Every hole, nook and cranny will be filled back in and re-cut. Were trashing the TRS and Transmission and going with a Bravo/ITS setup. Also building a pretty big motor. Phil will be making loads of one off custom parts for this thing so with all these bits and pieces it will add up quick. I look at it like a frame off restoration on a classic car.
|
The motor is being dropped off today at Boydy's Auto Parts & Machine AKA Boyd's Racing Engines in Norman, OK. The plan is to go N.A. and around 650hp.
|
The Fire Fox left Lake Texoma yesterday morning and should be at Lip-Ships sometime this afternoon. I'm pumped for the project to get started.
|
Keep us updated with pics.
Can't wait to see the progress. |

The boat got to Lip-Ships Friday morning and i got an email from Phil this morning with pics. The transom is rotted so they are cutting the whole thing out and replacing it. Everything old is going in the trash can. This will be a 1986/2008 24 Fire Fox when done.

Keep the pics and info coming! I love these type of threads. Not to mention I have a Firefox, and they are few and far between.
