Default My "New" Cigarette

I just bought my first boat. I bought it at an auction, so I have very little background information about it. It was described as a 1984 Cigarette Race Team Special Edition. 24' with 502 engine. I would appreciate any comments about it, including how much it might weight, and how fast it might go. I am getting a surveyor to show me how to operate it so that everything gets done properly. I will post a picture of it when I figure out how to do so.

Congrats.....

You have to be a member to post pictures... (best money you will spend the first moment you have a technical issue)

Some of the more seasoned members will surely know the stats on it.

Thanks. I just joined now, here is the picture. It is not me in the picture, it is the ad when the previous owner was selling it online. I will substitute a proper picture (e.g. with passenger in bikini) when I take some.

Are you sure that is "Cigarette" by brand? Do you have the HIN number?

I think it is, in that the previous owner says it is, and it is covered in Cigarette Racing Team Special Edition decals. I do not have the HIN number yet, I have not even found the hull plate.

I got it back from the garage today with new tires, brakes and wiring on the trailer, and $300 worth of premium in the tank. I knew that boating would be expensive, and it did not take long to see for myself. Tomorrow the surveyor is going to go through it with me, I should be able to get the HIN number then. So I could post it here, and someone might be able to tell me more about the boat? That would be great.

HIN number, at least on newer Cigs, is molded into the fiberglass on the starboard side of the transom.

That boat looks more like a Sutphen than a Cig. Look how the foredeck doesn't go all the way to the transom like a cig. It stops about 3/4 of the way back before were the engine intakes are located.

I can tell you it is not a Sutphen.

there was a thread on here a little while ago about that boat.

I think it has Airpacker's old motor in it if I remember correctly.

I think it is a splash of a Cigarette, not a 'real' cig per say. At least thats what I remember from the thread.

Do a search and find that thread.

Congrats on the new boat by the way!
