Default Engine Spacing

Are the Stringers on a 28 the same with small and big block? am looking at a 28 that had twin 350s TRS Boat currently powerless Would like to put twin 454s in . Want to make sure that they will fit this hull Also Ive seen some that have these motors Will they fit with a 72 trans?Or will they be to far ahead Motors will be spiced up 420s Thanks

The stringers are the same. The big blocks will be very tight. Small blocks are tight. What year is the boat? The earlier ones that had the Merc Trans have a little shorter engine compartment and they moved the firewall foreward about 6 inches to make room for the b&w's.

You may want to either consider a different hull or going to small blocks. I've heard the 28's are a little tail heavy with TRS and big blocks. I know mine with small blocks has a great balance.

The closest you can go with BB i think is 34 centerline.
So it should fit ,but i would consider to stick Bravos on the baby saves weight and gains speed.
With a small boat like a 28 footer Bravos will not give you any problems the TRS i think is way to much for a 28 with max 550 HP ?????!!!!!!!

Closing the Transom and cutting out for Bravos is around 1000 bucks at the most, so well worth it.

the boat had smallblocks with merc trans What hp can a bravo 1 take without pushing its limits with healthy smallblocks
