Wow! You really did your homework Jamie. So if I go with the Raylar 550 then I can get some fat chicks on my boat :p
|
Any computer geeks out there that can make a Sb/Bb comparison simulation program on the Cig20'? Even though Cigarette used smallblocks in the day - they did not have a lot of hp than what some owners are using today. Just something else to add to the equation. So we will have to weigh the pros and the cons - great input though

This weekend I did a dry fit of the V-10 in the 20. I did have to do some minor mods to get it in but it fits! The Ilmor is about 2 inches longer than a traditional V-8. Basically we mounted the inner transom plate and dropped the motor in, mounted the bell housing to the inner plate and then dropped the motor level. I was presently surprised that it went in. I was very worried it was going to be a major problem. Here are some pics...

couple more pics...

Very nice!!! I think its cool to see a V-10 in a 20 Cig.
|
Thanks Paul! I think it should go pretty good. The Ilmor has an aluminum block and is about 200lbs lighter than a big block.
|
Ktron nice, can't wait to see that thing run...Keep up the good work..:drink:
|
That's really nice !!! - will the stock cig hatch cover the
Ilmor ? you must be sooooo amped up, great resto! |
Interesting project, keep the pictures coming as you continue to work on it.
|
Now thats a motor worthy of a clear plexi shield on the engine hatch showing it off.
|
pm203, That is a geat idea! I will keep that in mind when I get to the hatch.
Thanks to everyone for the nice comments |
what kind of numbers are you guys seeing with 700 hp
|
Is this resto done ??
We all need to have an update !! |
I am waiting for the intake to come back from polishing so I can do another "dry fit" of the V-10. I should have some more pics soon.

Thanks BLee! I wanted something a little different and I actually hopped in the truck last year and drove to Michigan to check out Ilmor's place and pick up my motor. It was incredible to say the least.

Ilmors are turbine smooth and have a top end rush like a 2 stoke dirt bike hitting the pipe. Itll have a wail that will sound like a cross between a big block chevy and a lambo. I have a 710 and have been extremely impressed away with it. It'll push my rig to 90 More good news the engines are highly efficient (providing you can keep yoru arm out if it which will be tough. Mine gets 2.4 MPG in running at 35-40 in 3 foot seas. Cant wait to see your next picts, and thanks for sharing your project with us. Uncle DaveAttachment 386060 Attachment 386061 |
Thanks for the feedback on the Ilmor, Great to hear you are happy with it! I can't wait to get the project finished and enjoy it.

My Ilmor did not have the intake polished, it was the stock cast look. So I took it off and had it polished. Just got it back last night and I am glad I did! Check it out!
Now I need to get it back on the motor so I can do another fit check in the boat. |

Have not had much time to work on my 20. Just mounted the trim tab plates this past weekend. I should have more soon.

sick

The intake looks awesome!
But that transom cut-out looks a little crooked... or maybe it's the tabs!? :evilb: ;) |
Anymore updates? This project is incredible!
|
Great project. Would like to see more pictures of the progress.

I got the intake back on the engine and did another fit check for the V-10. Everything worked out as far as clearance. I am thinking that I will make a custom front motor mount so that is the next step.
|
Looking great Darrin.
|
Thanks Rob! It's going slow but sure.
|
Wow, that boat is going to be incredible when you get it completed. That finish looks incredible. Any ideas for a paint scheme yet?
|
Looking good DK!
|
That's going to be a cool 20 when you are done ktron.

Just removed the old coring from the original engine hatch. I am going to make a couple small mods and re-core and glass.

V10 fits and is in place with alignment tool through the transom assembly. Plenty of room for the air filter and tailpipes.
