Great click on facebook & the new lipship website. Any estimated speeds with that massive Viper Power?
|
The motor is a Gen III Ilmor 625 hp and similarly powered Big Block Cig 20's have ran in the low to mid 90's with the BH drive setup. The Ilmor V10 is an aluminum block which sheds approx 300 pounds. It also revs a bit more (up to 6000 rpm) depending on props. So, if we are in the low 90's, I will be happy but hoping for upper 90's.

VERY COOL, great job and a Awsome boat!!!

Engine Hatch

Hatch pics! I glassed drop vents and made stainless grilles for the smaller drop vents and a larger front oval grille. First pic is the top side, second is the underside.

Vent detail, I engraved the Cig script logo onto the small backing plate for the stainless vents in the drop vent. Phil's crew did a great jog cleaning up the hatch and the rough glassing I did.

20 completed!

A cool little Blurb Philly put on it his new site. More pics to follow. A huge "thank you" to Phil, Marissa and the crew at Lip-Ship. They totally out did themselves yet again. My 20 came out beautiful to say the least and has a bunch of cool little tricks to it. DK |

couple pics. Check out the full 12" set back. Philly hooked me up with a Zeiger 5" Box to go along with the ITS setup. I then machined the 5" box for an overall wight reduction of about 30%. It was Philly's idea and these smaller boats are so weight sensitive.

Thanks Guys! No numbers yet, we just took it for a shake down cruise to make sure everything was tight and clamped. we ran it up to 75 pretty effortlessly with a lot left. It should run in the low to mid 90's. once I get it back home and run it I will post what I get out of it.

Amazing boat and as always, pictures don't do it justice...the attention to the details are incredible! Good luck with it and enjoy tearing up lake wini :evilb: |

woooooowwwwwww!! speechless. Congrats on an amazing project

WOW that sure came out nice. Well done.
How does the BH do getting on plane? What G/R and prop pitch are you running? I notice you have a cav plate pick up for your drive shower. My BH drive never put enough water thru there to keep the drive from turning white. I found running a 6AN tap from the raw water cooling thru the transom to the shower cap made a huge difference in drive temps. It also kept cooling the drive when idling along after a hard run. Never turned a cap white after making that modification. Keep an eye on the drive, they tend to get pretty toasty because they're really isn't anything in the water to transfer heat away from. |
Looks great Daren - love the windshield vs. windscreen look, and the paint is a nice balance of cool and classy.
Congrats on a long-time-coming -- one-of-a-kind project, Phil out did himself on this one, as did you! Mark |
Guys, thanks for all the very nice comments!
Mark, stop over some time and check the boat out. |

I am running a 1.5:1 Gear Ratio. We tried a set of 29's and it got on plane effortlessly. I was very surprised, but happy. The boat is set up with 380S K-planes which help out. I am going to try a set of 31's when I get it back home. Philly runs the same type of drive shower setup on his 20 and I don't think he has had a problem. I will keep an eye on it and I appreciate the advice! Daren |
That looks incredible!!
This is probably a dumb question, but why still use the BH drive instead of something newer like the Indy, Imco, Konrad etc? I guess i dont know what benefits the BH provides over a single prop drive. |

The BH with it's surface piercing design runs really well on these smaller high HP boats that run over 80. |
Way cool came out awesome!
|
What an awesome example of what can be done to a Cig 20!!
I would soooo like to be able to do that with mine someday....... just keep dreaming...... |
Thanks guys! Just got back from picking the boat up @ Lip-ship. 4 days in the truck! Ready for a cold beer.
More pics and video to come. Phil is the man!! |
Are you going to run that in N.H. ? I heard they tough on their noise laws. What mufflers can you use?

That sounds awesome Daren!!!
Where on Wini do you boat? |
First class job !
I didnt know the Blackhawk drives could handle a motor with that much torque and horsepower. Did you have any work done to the internals? |
