Mark; 69 to 70 seems about right, really? At what RPM do your motors develop 600 hp and are you running the drive spacer in your Konrads ? Rick

They Dyno at 602 HP at 5200 and 689ft of torque at 3500

I run 1 " spacers boat was slower with higher X and tougher to plane.

My props turn out 5100RPM 25 Hydomotive P5X.

I think your dyno was a bit conservative.

Fox Hunter runs a bit over 70 with Kevlar hull 540's and #3's
His 540's are estimated at 650HP.

Mark , I am perplexed, we have a friend with a stock formula 382 non step hull with sealed 500hps 25 pitch mirage 3 blades running 70. My scanner is acting up so Eric will pm my dyno sheet to you . My engine builder N.D.Engines doesnt have a dyno, Performance Engineering Racing Engines, Inc. was contracted to do the testing. I have never heard of a engine builder underating horsepower. Rick

Mild Thunder; very suprised to read you are running a 5 blade max on a 402 formula , what drives are you running? Rick

I'll answer for Mildthunder. The boat has TRS drives with a very high X for a TRS setup. Prop shaft is around 4.5 inches below the hull. What I heard the boat was originally rigged with speedmaster 2 drives.

Kris, the 402SR1 is a notoriusly heavy wave crusher a great ride in big water not a fast hull. Those numbers make sense. Rick

Heavy, for sure. 15,300lbs on the trailer axles at the truck stop with less than 1/4 tank of fuel. Met a guy up in south haven this year who had a 402 a few years back. He thought I was full of $hit when i told him i get 70mph out of it on GPS. He had 400HP mercs and said best he could get was about 54.

Tried 3 blade mirage plus props this summer, they were USELESS! Could not get on plane in any kind of chop, and best speed was 65mph at 5000rpm spinning 27p. Slip was ridiculous.

One thing i'd like to do this winter is redo the deck/hull joint, new sealent, thru bolt, and possibly glass from the inside.

I got the dyno sheets that is what they say. It doesn't matter what the dyno says, the boat is doing the talking. It obviously runs very good.
Was there any work done to your bottom?
Do you have the HP bottoms (built in nose cones)on your Konrads ?

Mild Thunder, a few years ago I was involved in offshore racing and a number of 382 step hulls in F2 class were running the Maximus, the guys liked them but again the x was very high comparatively speaking. One of the things I learned in offshore racing is the obvious doesnt always make sense, 70 is a big number for that boat. Rick

Mark; my Konrads are the standard drive. Shortly after buying my drives I talked someone at Konrad about converting to the hp, I declined based on a convesation I had with Zero Patients a board member with a 38 top gun. He thought the hps were a little slower, he tested both. I dont recall who said it at the time but I was told the hp was beneficial primarily to 100mph plus cats. And just for the record, for those who may not want to remember, those 382s with the maximus props I mentioned earlier, SMOKED by Tres Martin and Team Virgins 36 Gladiator. Rick
