Yeah Mike I thought about it, also have been thinking of putting it where the tab and drive indicators are and putting in the heads up ones but I have to stop the spending at some point. I would mount where everyone does I am just worried in rough water it will come loose or fall off.

Mine is a Garmin, I think, designed for automotive or marine applications. I have never had it fall off in rough water.

I just bought one where the previous owner redesigned the dash and did just that, center mount gps and stereo control above the throttles, and installed a heads up indicator. He said the heads up indicator was a tricky install. He had to design a base for it to get it right.

I installed one into the trim and tab recess, relocated the indicators to the top of the dash with Stainless Marine heads up indicators. Just my opinion but GPS on the top of the dash is for Bass Boats.

This is the installation Zero Patience is referring to. Before, during and after.

How difficult was it to install the heads up indicators?

It wasn't bad. We spent a whole day on it. It is tight inside the dash to get the cables into the heads up units but they use quick connect cable ends, not to bad. We have since replaced the cables and it was not nearly as tough as replacement on the stock indicators.
