Well......I decided to go with the "Cigarette" on the headrest. I may be over thinking it but, here's why.

I do think that the Cigarette Oval looks awesome. And I truly struggled with my decision. The thing is, those Cigarette Ovals are slightly different than the one on the sun pad. And the sun pad is slightly different than the Ovals on the side of the boat. So, what I didn't want was to have different "themed" Cigarette Ovals all over the place. The new Cigarette's, that have Ovals everywhere, are all the same color schemes.

In addition, with the "Cigarette" in cursive, the boat will be balanced with the logos. What I mean is, I'll have (3) "Cigarette's" in cursive.....one on the bow, (3) "Cafe Racer" in razor's edge script, and I'll have (3) Cigarette Ovals......the third will be on the center of the steering wheel.

I agree those will look sharp as hell!

Okay........more progress today. Here is the result of my interior change. I hope I'm making the right decisions.

I'm hopeful, once everything is 100% completed, it'll come together.

Bueller.............Bueller....................... Bueller.................

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I originally thought that I wanted all white grab handles, now I'm not sure. I'm now thinking platinum because I think that there might be to much white, and the platinum would break up the interior a little. There's platinum on the throttles and shifters. Hmmmmmm................

Anyone want to share an opinion? :)

ajacobazzi 06-01-2010 02:48 PM

Oh yeah.....the gauges are platinum too.

TomZ 06-01-2010 03:38 PM

I like the platinum idea....

Boat looks incredible!

HA - are you kidding me? It looks great!

I also like the Platinum guages - mine are starting to show some age and I would like to throw some money at over next winter - I really like what you've done.....

BDiggity 06-01-2010 06:40 PM

the platinum adds a nice bling factor. i like it much better than a white on white combo which the eye would just scan over.

ajacobazzi 06-02-2010 09:30 AM

Thank you everyone, for the kind words. I'll be sure to share more photo's over the next couple for weeks as we arrive to 100% completion. :)

frickstyle 06-03-2010 10:38 AM

Your dash is exactly what I'm looking for. It looks classic and elegant. Very subtle until you really start to notice little things that make it look professinal. Well done.

To the right of the compass there's a black clip. Just behind the clip is the hard wire connection. I have a portable Garmin Road/Marine that I'll be using. I should have bought a flush mount, but, I'm past that now. :(

BDiggity 06-04-2010 03:44 PM

How did u flush mount the cleats? When i had the berth interior apart, i thought i would replace the two along the deck side. But the way the top joined the hull, there wasnt the needed 3" of clearance.

I see you have a 91. Is the deck elevated on the 91's?

no its pretty flat. i dont think i have a picture of the underside of the old cleat. but where the "notch" in the deck is where the cleat mounts, there is only about 1.5" of room to where the hull flares out to meet the deck. thats my best non professional explanation. i still plan on putting them at the bow to clean it up some.

When I was shopping for my Cafe I went with the later style cabin, but looking at nice clean cabins like yours makes me realize how great it would be to have the couches for friends to sleep on. My brother is 6'5" and he is NOT comfortable when he has to curl up on my couch......

Boat is looking great....

I love the flush mount cleats but I was always worried about the fact they ultimately drain into the bilge?? I would definitely have them though if my boat stayed covered the majority of the time....

Sick Stinger 06-05-2010 03:38 PM

AJ can i get a better pic of the switch panel in cabin also are the switches spade style or have the screw to hold the wires on. If they are can you tell me where you got them olling to swap mine out
Thanks
-Mike

Well, it’s been a little while since I’ve actually brought her home, almost 30 days actually. I wish that I could say that I’ve been enjoying her……..but I can’t. I had to take matters into my own hands to get her completed. Deadline after deadline had passed, and Fastboats.com couldn’t seem to find the finish line. Honestly, they told me that it’d be done nearly every two weeks since last Thanksgiving. So as you could imagine, enough was enough. They got me 95% there, and I’m handling the last 5%.

This past Saturday was my first real day to take her out and enjoy her. The day started out fantastic, although it felt like it was a million degrees outside. However, my day ended tragically, as water was found in the oil in both motors. The Starboard motor starts, idles and runs perfectly as if there was no problem at all. The Port motor, starts (after applying full throttle and cranking for 10 seconds), won’t idle (need to keep revving the motor while it puffs black smoke), and seeming runs perfectly as long as you maintain 1,500 rpm and higher. I know that it’s a boat, but DAMN! She won’t even give me one day. :(

Anyway, I figured that I would share some photos with you all as visually she’s basically completed. Hopefully you all like it. I do. It came out better than I imagined that it would. It better have! After all the damn money that I put into it! :p I’ll be a mad Motha’ F’r if I have to get rid of it due to the state of the economy. Hopefully business will turn around soon; otherwise, maybe I’ll just have to live in it. ;)

Beautiful job, looks great.:drink:

Good luck getting the engine's straightened out and on the water.

I've been doing little bits and pieces on my 96 Powerplay this year, and these types of things inspire me to keep going and do the next little thing here and there.

Your Boat Looks AWESOME!!!!

idreamt... 08-02-2010 12:27 AM

I have never seen a boat that so resembles the dream Cig I have built in my mind over my entire life. The contrast of the black hull and the oval logo is perfect. The bright, clean white subtly accented by the modern metallurgy of the new hardware. It looks like Cigarette themselves just debuted their brand new Cafe Anniversary Edition. I am even more inspired to someday have a Cig as beautiful as this.
Good work sir. It truly is perfect.

G/L with the motors. That could happen to anybody. I hope you can mentally separate that (mechanical) problem from your artful accomplishment with the rest of the boat.

I'm new btw.

If those are Gil Exhaust manifolds, you may want to have them checked and/or pressure tested.

Mine have had multiple cracks, that will milk up the motors.

Good luck partner- boat looks great.

Thank you everyone for the kind words! Visually, I absolutely love it. And I truly enjoyed the one day that I had with her. The ocean was nearly a sheet of glass.

I decided to pull the motors and completly go through them. I don't want to constantly be on egg shells, and have a different problem arrise every other weekend. They'll be at Native Racing Engines in Lake Park...........he's a good friend of mine, so I know that I'll be in good hands. Thankfully their just stock motors, so for him, it'd be like working on a lawn mower engines. :p
