The one red switch operates both drives simultaneously, and the other, both tabs simultaneously.

Too bad things are going slowly, but that looks like some good progress.
When's the boat hitting the water?

That's a great question. I've heard, "in two weeks", since November! So, who knows when it'll be done........ :(

That's got to be a disappointment. By the pictures, looks like you've got the engines going in, and the helm is being worked on. I love the paint! Keepin' it classic.

That's an understatement! It's way over in both time, and more importantly, money. When I budgeted for the restoration, I was way off. Thank you, I like the classic look myself.

Youre welcome :) And you arent the only one with a slow resto, I am working on my little 13' Mini Hawk, and it's taking forever!

As long as it isn't on the deck!!!!!

Boat looks awesome!! I love the classic paint!! Coming along very nicely!! And, I can sympathize on the cost and time of the rebuild. Did my Formula 311 back in 2003 and it FAR exceeded what I had budgeted. But, once it's complete and on the water, you'll forget about the cost and time overruns!! :drink:

Looks great be patient it looks like it's worth all the time. This is why I tell everyone to buy one done vs. doing one themselves. Trust me I know.

Thank you everyone for the kind words.

I can guarantee, this will be the last time I go down this road again!

My problem is, I'm a perfectionist, so naturally everything needs to be perfect. And of course, perfection costs a lot of MONEY!!!!

Well, at the very least, I do have some satisifaction in knowing that I'm not the only one. :)

Looking great! I am doing a Cafe for a customer now (since October) and there are a lot of unforseen repairs and upgrades that continue to be added. The great thing is that, when it is finished, it is a boat that reflects the customers unique tastes.

crt35 03-30-2010 08:49 PM

WoW, more pics please...

Anything particular you'd like to see?

frickstyle 03-31-2010 06:57 AM

This is the boat at FastBoats (or was), correct? I saw it when I was there last Thanksgiving. Looking real good! Paint is very classy. How long did it take to get the hull that straight?

Let's see some pics. I love that all these Cafe's are coming back to life. I know that I am biased but I have always loved the lines of the Cafe.

Yep, that''s the one. It's still there. Been there since July! :(

Rossy easily worked on the hull for two weeks, maybe three.

We're getting there! Had an initial sea trial on Friday. Everything went well, however, one motor was 300 rpm behind the other. They're thinking that it's just a prop issue, we'll see. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Apparently, they just took a couple of Mirage props off the shelf to test it. One was a newer one and the other was an older version.

The boat looks great! How is the work in the cabin coming along?

BDiggity 05-10-2010 09:28 PM

Looks great! Couple questions.

Whats w/ your rear bench? Did you do something special to it? Mine is all one piece, but your seat back looks like its separate.

Did you have the gunwale trim done as a single piece instead of two pieces? I was thinking bout doing that when i get to the cockpit. Looks much cleaner.

Like everything else, "VERY SLOW". For the most part it's substantially completed. However, there is a TON of BS little stuff.

Honestly, I think that the upholsterer is sorry that he committed to doing it.

I suppose it's three pieces. The base, the seat cushion and the seat back.

Yes, the side panels are each a single piece on either side.

Well, the bolsters are "done", but they messed them up. Just one more delay to add to the pile.

1. They were supposed to have black piping around the headrest.

2. The logo on the back of the headrest was supposed to say "Cigarette" not the Cigarette Oval.

3. The foam within the bolster, around the outside corners weren't smooth and rounded.

What do you think about the Cigarette Oval on the headrest? I believe that is how it's done on the new Cigarette's?

BDiggity 05-18-2010 02:18 PM

I like the Cig logo. I had one put on my interior couch, & wanted to do the same on the bolsters when i move on to them.

Best pic of the logo here at work i had done by ppi.
