I am also not sure but I think posting for realistic money and then just not coming off your price much might help generate interest in these boats these days. If I was going to offload mine I would slap a reasonable price on it and set the expectation early on that I wasn't going to budge much. I asked him if I listed it $10,000 higher would he have driven 600 miles to see it......he said probably not. (The boat was in mint condition though!!!) |
I am shocked at what some are asking for the older ones maybe that's why the same boats are for sale every month.

Or buy a CHEAP one and go for it yourself. |
Once they guy that bought my TG saw the boat, he didn't even try to bargain. He said "I'll take it" with in 7-8 minutes of seeing the boat. But I still sold it in this economy, thus I didn't get what "I" thought it was worth.
But now the fun part begins, looking for that next toy. |

If your boat is in good shape, it would have been a 75K-90K boat just a few years ago.....but now with all of the repos and fire sales that have happened...it's not worth 60K. Don't take this the wrong way, I'm in the same boat. I've got an '88 TopGun with #6 drives and fresh 800's that looks pretty much like new boat. A few years ago I imagine that could have sold it for between 100-120K and now I seriously doubt that I could get 75K for it. I'm just glad it's paid for. But that is still better than having a monthly payment! For instance...this year it's gotten a completely new exhaust system and new cockpit interior. I budget for something to upgrade each year to keep it going instead of running it down until it needs everything done. There always will be the unexpected breakage that happens....that's when it hurts!!:angry-smiley-044::angry-smiley-044: |
