Holy Cow!
It is not even October Yet! This could be a very long winter........:party-smiley-004: I do see some similarities though: Cigarette = Rolex Everyone thinks a go fast boat is a Cigarette and a fancy watch is a Rolex. Both brands really set the standard to which all others are measured. "Dad" said it best, no boat manufacturer or model is the perfect boat, everything has compromises. |

There are ALWAYS going to be people that come into the Cigarette forum, & hate on their product.
Yet, there will NEVER be a more popular boat out there than a Cigarette, because of their continued ability to build strong, stylish, sexy, fast boats that THEIR customers want. A few might migrate to Sutphen, or OL, occassionally, but the vast majority of boaters consider Cigarette the all around best Vee bottom available for their tastes. Cigarette has earned that reputation over MANY more years of hard work, than todays flavor of the week have been around to accumulate. Whether or not a boat has, or does not have, a full sized master bathroom & kitchen, is irrelevant to most high performance boaters. Those creature comforts don't make a boat better than another, just by having an option that has nothing to do with the boats ability to perform. From what I've seen, most performance boaters want their boat to: Look sexy. Run fast. Be easy to operate. Perform & hold together well in all water conditions. Have some variation of a cabin. Look sexy You may have the best quality boat ever assembled, but if it's ugly, you won't sell many. There are also good looking boats out there, with half-assed build quality, that sell well. It's generally all about the lines to most in the end. People will deal with not having all of the rest, as long as their boat excites them every time they see, or use it. |

Breitling is the best watch everyone knows that. I have to say I have never been in the Power Play forum . It always amazes me all the nay sayers hang out in here, but I guess it is like they say imitation is the best form of flattery
As to Breitling being the best, see point below!

I have a Seiko flat watch I bought in 1984 for about $140. To this day, no issues, and it never needs a tune up, and aside from a $7 battery replacement every 2 years or so, never needs a time reset.
Oops, OT again. The Ciggs are a beautiful boat, timeless. Just looking at the Sutphens and the Cigs, it's pretty easy to see they're after different markets. I'll probably never own a Cigarette, but it's no reason to trash them. It's obviously a well built boat, and something you can keep for many, many years if that's what you want. That's not an easy thing to say about many products today. Just be happy there are some good choices left. |
Brandon said it much more eloquently but the way I see it is it’s only a straight douche bag that will come on here and talk sh!t about someone else’s boat. And to that point I say, consider the source.
I’ve never personally had the pleasure of running on a Sutphen but they look like very well built boats from what I know about them. |
