im sure you just need the spacers and the right prop. we thought our trans was slipping too. we pulled it and everything checked out fine. we didn't have to use a spacer, just a good prop. we are now running a 32 five blade maximus at 6000 rpm. runs great.

What is the measurement (with the drive level to the bottom)from the center of the drive to the bottom of the boat. That will give us an idea of whether you really have a ehight problem or a prop problem.

cig92 - what boat and hp are the 32 maximus props on?
I have 1" spacers coming to try.

The vertical measurement running a staight edge from the bottom of the boat to the center of the prop shaft is 6"

That's rather deep. I'd investigate other potential issues. Do you have any obstructions such as water pick-ups etc that could possibly be causing cavitation issues?

I'm with Biggus on that. 6" below the bottom is more than conservative.

Take a couple photos of the transom from the rear and side with the drives in level position and post. May give us some ideas.

it's a 92 red with white nose stripe 38 tg. 572 cu. in. 5 liter whipple, dart heads. first pull made 1167 hp. we then changed pulleys and timing, detuned them to 975 hp. 102 mph on gps with 975 hp. the thing pulls like a frieght train, what a difference

What about stern lift with the bite that the 5 blade produces? Could they be lifting the rear of the boat at those speeds causing the props to come out of the water? What about a prop with a little more slippage?

Have you tried swapping the drives and having the props turn inward? Others can chime in if I have this wrong, but I believe that having your props turn outwards (pics you posted show the starboard prop rotates right and port prop turns left) tends to lift the stern. This may be causing your props to blow out.

Changing to having the props rotate inward (starboard turns left and port turns right) may lift the bow a bit and let the stern settle. This may eliminate the props blowing out. Of course you'll have to try various props this way to see what works best.
