We had a 73 Open that was converted a single BBC and it ran very well. With a modified 500HP the best we ever saw was 63MPH-65MPH. Can't find the ad in the classifieds, but here are a couple of pictures for reference.

The 28's are great boats.
I remember seeing the bills for the work the previous owner did to correctly change it from a twin to a single and it was $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Unless it is rotted and you need to take out the transom, I would stay with twins as well.

Well, I started taking everything out, The engines both 4 bolt main sbc's and the drives volvo 280t's(boat anchors) are off the boat. I'm going to loose several hundred pounds from useless plumbing and heavy cast manifolds and risers. On the plus side all is very dry! and stable! Looking like i'll be going with new sbc's and bravo's? At this point the plan is to leave the boat as original as posible with the exception of the driveline, This interior isn't even that bad! May have to have a few patches made up but aside of that all the original SW gauges are still functional, Controls(oldschool morse) still good. This one will definetly be function over form. But she's gotta be an old school classic? Pic's to come GMG
