A buddy has a 94 and ended up buying those $1,300 in parts. He loves the difference it made. I too would have looked hard for something else......even paying someone to let me take theirs off to see how to make my own.

I'm in the process of building one for my gun as well. They really change the looks of them.

I still have that extra plexi. Not sure if I want to give it up,
but you can take it somewhere and have one made if you want
I would have to say that is the best improvement I have done. Well maybe second to the SMITH things!

That's what I was planning on doing and waiting for your boat to get back so I can make a pattern.

They make a big difference in reducing the wind noise over the flaps and they look a lot better.

SS930 11-03-2010 07:25 AM

Can you guys post pics of your TG windshields?

tanner 11-03-2010 07:40 AM

I made mine for around 200 bucks total and a days worth of work... not bad and I saved the raping from Cigarette !! I cant post pics though ... I will see how I can get a picture to you

tanner 11-03-2010 07:46 AM

I could not use all the old holes from the wind flaps, but only had to cover up the end 2 on each side ..

UrbanDisturbance 11-03-2010 08:01 AM

I have a 1994 Top Gun, and I like the FLAPS on mine, except I can't see over it. I guess I have never seen the windshield ya'll are talking about. Anyone have pictures they can post?

We all had flaps on our Guns and in 2001 one of our friends had a new Topgun built with the windshield. Well, at first sight, we all hated it! It looked out of place and wasn,t as cool looking as the flaps when they were down. However, after one ride, we ALL were sold and had to have them. The cockpit gets so much more air diverted over it, the difference is night and day. It will be the best $1,300 or so you will spend on your boat. Now looking back, putting those flaps up and down manually, $ucked. And, they worked awful.

Nice. Does the windshield cover the existing holes from the original flaps? Where did you order your windshield?

Some of the aftermarket ones that people have had made, or made themselves, might cover a few of the existing holes?

My boat came with flaps originally, & the holes had to be filled when I had the OEM shield put on. TOTALLY worth it. I got mine from LipShip.

I don't have any holes that need to be covered. The previous owner got it from Cigarette and had it installed.

UrbanDisturbance 11-03-2010 12:52 PM

While ya'll are getting your windshields this winter, I'm finally getting a swim platform with an Illusion powder coat from Extreme Marine. I hope to get it within the week. I had to get it for my wife. Maybe I can get a windshield next winter, or make one.

WMF 11-03-2010 02:01 PM

I got mine from Lip Ship, I just have to find time to install it, mine covers the old holes from the flaps.

"sigh"

There had to be a reason why they kept giving me free t-shirts!

lol, Cigarette did the install on mine, & filled in the holes left by the flap "clips".

Quinlan 11-03-2010 06:24 PM

Mine covered all holes but the clip holes that hold down the flaps. i just left them in there.
Now since its going to Vincent this winter i am gonna fix that.

There is only one style as far as I know. If you don't find one to copy by spring, my buddy keeps his TG at the lake and I am sure he wouldn't mind showing you his windscreen. it should not be that hard to make.

Is your boat here or still in MO?

Quinlan 11-04-2010 07:09 AM

Still in Joplin now, Goin to Vincents after KW.
But that spare plexi is in my shop downtown.
And I want them to price a smoked one out when you do it.

I don't imagine that it should be more than a hundred or so for the lexan piece.

I would definitely use Lexan too, instead of plexi. Much stronger, & won't scratch near as easily.

Quinlan 11-04-2010 02:33 PM

Good to know. It came from Lip Ship so i would guess it is.

carter38 11-04-2010 02:43 PM

How thick is it?

I thought there was a company called Aerotek or something like that which supplies Cig. They have them in stock for approx $400.
