I only have an anchor, lines, swipes, and shore power cords in my flip up bench.
I think properly proportioned bolsters would give you more cockpit space especially with drop out seats.
As far as storage, create some side storage compartments for what goes in the bench seat.

Is their going to be a dream boat update III Brace. Sounds like you have some ideas. No hijack intended.

Not in 2011 but maybe 2012 :)

But back on track... Ken what is your thoughts on the #8's and trannies???

X2...sitting in the rear bench in a stand up boat SUCKS! All you can see is the back of the front bolsters; solution, all stand or all sit.

Sound like another cool project, look foward to seeing the pics. Should be a very nice setup.

By the way, the darks and silvers will look very understated and classy in my opinion. I like red too but I think the direction you're going in works well.

I really like black / silver / purple.

Thanks much. You have me thinking. The more i think about it the more it makes sense. When back-seaters are onboard it will drastically improve their experience. I personally dislike sitting on a bench seat at speed. Hell, if not in the front seats the back bench can be a scary ride. I really get your point and appreciate your input. On the list to consider.

I really like the M8's and trannies. Super strong setup and lower center of gravity than six drives for the '39. Cig believes the rear hatch may be standard hight as a result and this is very important to me and the main reason for the setup. Should know by tomorrow actual height. When the boat is used locally and rafting in a bay, the rear hatch is a great space to hangout.

I am starting to see your point here. Sort of makes sense. Will consider.

You have described pretty much what I am looking for. First paint schemes should be available in the next day or two; of course I will post them all for consideration. Thanks.

That's my cousins boat. Awesome ride. I love the colors on my Firefox as well.

Idea on the bolsters...

Have the cigarette handles to hold on to, have the bolster really hold you in but not to bulky, have the outer two bolsters have a flip up seat, have the center one have a flip up step made like the billet foot rest emblems. Maybe even a two step deal. 99% of the time nobody sits and if they want to then just dont choose center seat. (could be two oval logos that come forward from the bulk head of the engine room and stagger down for an easy entrance) or one from bulkhead and one that raises from a hydraulic lift off the floor, when down its flush with the floor. The center step would save a lot of wear and tear of getting in and out of the cockpit. Also a two step deal with the cig billett oval looking like they are floatig I think would be original and classy.

Interesting setup and consideration. I really love the flip up steps for the center seat which makes a lot of sense. The outer two seats are the really bolster setups and the most comfortable with the cig handles probably close to where the original design is. Will discuss with cir. Thanks much.

i know it has been a while, but after many design and graphic considerations, we now have a good working design. We used blue in place of too much black from the original design. Not sure if less blue or the introduction of another color makes sense. I welcome your comments.

On a technical note, the deck and hull is in still in the mold. All stringers were redesigned for the 1100 setup. It will not be a full stagger like the 700's but much better than the 1075's. The 1100's are not quite as wide as the 1075's due to the 1075's headers which are cast on the 1100's and run much closer to the block before energizing the turbos.

Thanks ALL
KEN

So it's gone from silver and black concept to silver and blue. I think it looks awesome.

It would be interesting to see a mock up with a little black highlight in between the silver and blue. It might create more contrast. Or perhaps the addition of another color..

twin screws 03-12-2011 06:53 AM

Looks awesome Ken, love the blue and silver. The black also adds a nice look. Who is helping with the design?

Magic Medicine 03-12-2011 07:19 AM

I'm not making the designs, but I'm advising Ken on what looks good, like adding a little bit more blue to the original gray design. Stands out better, less bland.

Tom A. 03-13-2011 01:26 PM

Don't add another color but maybe fade the blue from a slightly lighter shade to a slightly darker shade or vice versa.

Awesome look!!!!!

jtr2kwl 03-13-2011 02:33 PM

RedMatter, Apexwarrior, and RockyS18...why am i not surprised??

New boat looks good, already miss the old one tho!

jtr2kwl 03-13-2011 03:04 PM

Alright so, my 2 cents (as per phone conversation), I personally think keeping the standard red 1 in the insignia would really stand out from the blue, and just change it up a little bit. Also, that pinstriping i was talking about, just to outline some of the color changes, i think that would be cool. You know what i'm talking about Rocky...

I will be at thousand island poker run this summer, its already on my calendar!!!!

jtr2kwl 03-13-2011 03:19 PM

Also, for the interior...white/blue???? check out this cigarette:

RockyS18 03-13-2011 04:46 PM

jtr2kwl- That's a hot interior, love it. And I agree, maybe adding a border/stroke line to the lines would make it look better. Will look into it. And by the way, I call shotgun at that poker run!

You're in good hands with Dave Hunter

jtr2kwl 03-13-2011 08:49 PM

E, what about some a little 3D work, kind of like in #1762 and 1769....just subtle tho... And idk if you've seen the boats that have some script that looks like a watermark, that says "unlimited" or "top gun" sort of in the background on the hull. thoughts?

Look at #1762 (American Muscle II?) and the red boat in 1769

Lookin Great Ken, when Jason told me about it, I thought how can he beat the old one? But dammit man youve done it so far :D

BLee 03-14-2011 09:50 AM

I am always impressed with you guys that can stand the wait for your new boats, especially you guys that order new ones often. It would drive me INSANE having to be so patient, even knowing the finished product will make it all worth it.

It's a blast to watch, & be able to see the progress when some of you post pics throughout the build. The boat is looking great!

The watermark is what is on the current red 39. On the top of the boat, going from about the windshield to the front of the boat there is a watermark. I believe it says something like Cigarette of 39 Top Gun... I forget. But I understand what you mean. Depending on if there is a place to put it, it might look good. Will look at the 3D in a moment.

RockyS18 03-14-2011 04:02 PM

3D effect looks pretty cool, not sure how it would look on the current design.

jtr2kwl 03-14-2011 04:42 PM

3D as in the paint on the waterline looks like it goes under some of the upper graphics...hard to explain, will have to show u in person

Redmatter, was in the factory today didn't see your boat, they did mention they took one to paint though.

Gary,

Thanks. Just spoke to Vic at Cig and he laughed and said it's still in the molds in the back room. LOL

Thanks for looking out for me!

No problem Ken. You're in good hands with the Cig guys. Sounds like the glass shop is very busy. Good sign for sure.

Here is the latest and most certainly the final paint/design for the Cig.

The interior will be very similar to Gary's awesome '39 in the first Dream Boat update, except it will be highlighted in blue instead of red. Although the pix shows a blue steering wheel, a silver wheel will be used.

Lastly, the engine bay will be charcoal as a nice contrast for the 1100's black/silver paint.

Tom A. 03-27-2011 12:06 PM

Looks Awesome!
Took my advice, nice! :drink:
