Dream Boat Update II
Okay....New Cig on order. Will be in the mold this week. Another '39 no less...I know I know....but you must all hear me out. I love my current '39 but decided to up the ante a little bit with more power.
I simply love the new Merc 1100 turbo's and think it will make an exhilarating experience and fun set-up for a '39. I spent much time with Fred and Mike of Mercury Racing in Miami. The setup is awesome. Possibly game-changing. It's a bad-ass engine on pump-gas (89 octane). I do like the 42XX but the '39 is a great boat for the lake I am on (Lake George) as well as for Poker Runs. I will be using M8 drives over the six drives because it will enable the 1100's to be set down 2" lower in the boat than with six drives. I am thinking a mostly silver, then gray/black (gloss and flats) stripes for the paint scheme. I will post the designs before the final choice is made. I hope to receive feedback on the paint design and whatever else I should be doing from the community here. Thanks in advance for all of your help! Ken |

|
That will be a very cool setup! Should be a rocket ship!!
|
I love silvers and blues.
Awesome opportunity to build 1 CIG from the ground up, but 2 - that is fantastic!!! |
Very Cool
|
That's going to be sick! You're going to love the turbos. I haven't run the 1100's yet but I assume they'll react just like the 1350's and they are awe inspiring! Congrats

Can these new engines be full staggered, ( like a 700 boat)
or will they be a short stagger ( like a 850/1075 boat) ? |

I think this is goin be a long thread and I'm looking forward to it, congrats RedMatter.

Congratulations on the new build. There is nothing better than building your own Cig! Sounds like it will be incredible.

The paint doesn't sound as exciting as your current one, but the power sure does!
Since you're going ALL out, I'd make the backseat a true 3 bolster setup with the ability to raise & lower the bottoms, instead of the bench or undulating design with the handles you see sometimes. Real bolsters would sure make for a nice secure ride at speed for your passengers, & they could see better at the same time. Example: http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/8...rebuild021.jpg |
you should bring her down to the long island sound sometime...good luck with the build. i cant wait to see updates!!!

Cant wait to see it Ken, hope its here in time for the demo!

It was fun at the show talking about this boat with Fred from Mercury and Skip at Cig.
These guys do this all day long and it was cool to see the excitment in their eyes when they talked about this boat with those motors. When we do the Thousand Islands run, wait for me at the lunch stop! |

I think you should do some red too. Remember that Nor-Tech 39 diesel boat? Silver and red really pops.

Great combo of 39 and 1100.
I'd also recomend a bolster set up for the back bench. Cig could make it look really trick. I'd suggest more bulkheads and maybe a covergirl cabin. The speeds you are going to be doing on a regular basis will take a toll on the hull. Now if you're just runing rivers I'd say don't worry about it. Otherwise the boat is going to need more reinforcing. Also have them through bolt the rub rail with nylocks, this way its not constantly coming loose. The difference from 100 to 130 is going to create a lot of extra force on the boat. Also there seems to be a ton of red boats out there. They all seem to look the same to me. I like your original paint scheme idea but maybe a touch of red. Just my 2 cents. |

Agreed with the original paints scheme. Red boats seem to be very popular right now.

Personally, I would pass on the rear bolsters. Why ruin a uasable bench area? A nice bench is more user friendly (space-wise) in my opinion.
|
Ken screw the red...it will standout just fine :D
|
Who needs red to stand out, when you have 1100's...
