Is that Outer Limits an orange 42GTX? If so I saw him and I tried racing him in the Donzi. Didn't turn out so well for me...

edit: oh I didn't see jtr2kwl's post before, I said just about the same thing as him.

LAriverratt 06-30-2011 02:49 PM

what type of venting is needed for the turbos on the 1100's...I noticed the two side opening left on the engine compartment hatch...whats the plan for those????:party-smiley-004:

JasonSmith 06-30-2011 03:47 PM

WOW! Cool project. Can't wait it hear how it all goes.

The hatch is complete, albeit without the stainless intake grills installed. They will be forwarded by Cig next week and I will install them myself.

Boat is currently in transit and will be in the water this Saturday July 2.

Check out the pictures carefully as there is a piece of lexan under the hatch to deflect water from entering the engine compartment if something should happen. Also, the Cig logo and stripes are actually painted in reverse on the underside of the lexan with the bottom of the hatch flat black. Hopefully will look great up close.

Really looking forward to running the boat Saturday! Will have new pictures in the water....hopefully!

Thanks for all the kind notes of encouragement and help throughout this process....

And thanks to Hiperf360, I think the correct name for the boat should be The Top Gun!

Gladhe8er 07-01-2011 10:12 AM

Came out real nice. On water pics on the beautiful waters of Lake George should come out great!

Apexwarrior 07-03-2011 05:20 AM

What did the test driver at Cig say, "the fastest accelerating Cig they've ever made?" After taking a ride yesterday all I can say is I've never been on boat that accelerated anything like that in the mid range.

Makes the old one with 700's feel like a dog. You have to experience it to believe it. With the turbos screaming and its acceleration, its different than anything else out there.

That boat is a work of art.

Any pics on the water yet??

RedMatter 07-10-2011 08:22 AM

Wow. Boat is awesome.

Will post some pictures of it on the water soon. Have not as yet.

Boat is super quick....I mean SUPER quick. Was running yesterday about 60ish mph when a 38/42 fountain was coming in the other direction. I slowed to mid 40's when I saw him turn my direction so he could catch up to me. As he was accelerating and catching up to me I maintained about 50 and before he passed me I opened it up. In no time I was passing 110 with an awesome rooster tail! The fountain then turned away at probably mid 90's I guess about 10 boat lengths behind.

The turbos are an awesome experience and take some time to get used too. After accelerating to cruise speed you really have to bring back the throttles quickly to desired cruise as it keeps accelerating like a missile. The boat is much quieter at speed also which is awesome but at idle is about 99 decibels off the transom.

Top speed thus far for me is 115 and I mean an easy 115. Used no tabs and little trim and you get there fast. Again, the really amazing part of this boat is the shear acceleration from any speed when on plane. It's what I wanted and certainly achieved. All the guys at Cig have been awesome!

TeamSaris 07-10-2011 08:46 AM

I think you should give the mechanics a ride :D

Gladhe8er 07-10-2011 03:20 PM

Hey Johnny - What are you going to do to quiet it down for Lake George?

110 on that lake? I hope you know the water patrol:eek:

I am going to be doing the graphic designing for the name of this boat. Once I finish it, I will need a place to send it to so it can be printed for application to the boat. Does anybody know a shop to send this to?

This guy has to be one of the best I have ever worked with or seen for this type of work, Kevin @ Vital Signs 315 668 6614
He has done many race boats and created the Aqua Mania G3 design and installed the creation.
