F-2 race specs required side by side engine mounting, that is why most of them are ex-race boats. Both Cigarette and Donzi pumped out a few race boats at the beginning of their sit down boat runs. Both the Gladiators and Zr race boats were lighter (less creature comforts) then the pleasure built staggered boats but the staggered set up makes up the speed difference.

There was a narrow cockpit option also which = less space, but looks cool. You're a big guy, I think you'd like the space of a standard cockpit.

Ah, rules... Thank you!

.......Thanks for the responses. It sounds pretty much like more of preference than anything else. The staggard sounds a little faster, this gives me a little more info while looking.

For the best looking Glad combination, get a narrow cockpit staggered version. Also, a staggered boat should ride slightly better due to weight distribution.

the bear - noticed you are from MO. I would call up Brett at Performance Boat Brokerage and take a look at the Gladiator he has listed for sale. It is a Staggered setup, 525 EFI's. Very nice, clean boat, if anything, look at the setup, see if you like it. If not, discuss with PBB if they have any side by side owners wanting to sell. Good luck.

Is it worth jumping up 1 foot from the Cafe? I know they are 2 differant boats steps lighter weight site down and so on but will the ride be just as nice but faster?

Never been in a side by side Gladiator but have spent some time in Alex's and his is definately a lot of bang for the buck. http://www.performanceboatbrokerage....sp?boat_id=402
For me, a stagger would be a must if I was buying a Gladiator.

Your cafe is very similar to my 36' Apache and I would say that they are entirely different animals. The Gladiator is like sporty roadster that is quick, nimble, and light on its feet while the cafe is more like an old school muscle car/GTO.

The Gladiator will ride a lot nicer than a Cafe being the fact that is a twin step.
