That is Tim's old boat. The owner (that is selling it) is some sort of drag racer and was trying to make it the fastest Tiger in the world (see the thread in the general section). By the way the thread died and he never reported how it worked out, I'd guess he didn't reach his goal.
My buddy that wants to do this deal would really like to have a 41 Apache but prices are crazy. I'd be happy with a straight hull Gun with SSM #3A's like someone used to have.

I want to make sure he doesn't get something that he'll regret buying.

Hey Tank. Hadn't really thought of that. Not sure how much $ I could get for the take offs.
Also, not sure I'd want to go less power. You know me, too much is not quite enough!
And, wouldn't that boat be a bit of a dog with only 550's?
It's a shame because it is such a super clean boat. If it had 6's it would be perfect. On the other hand, if it had 6's it would probably be another $50K!

Personally, if I was in the market for a non step tiger this would be the one for sure

I don't know what you consider a dog but I do know more HP = more problems and maintanence. Tim sold that boat because he was tired of the hassles with big power (fuel, maintenance, breaking, etc) There's something to be said for less HP and turn key. No, you wont do 100 but when you really get down to it, how often are you running 100 in the ocean? And 100 aint even fast when you think of running on a lake so...it is what it is. Maybe Rob (offshoredrillin) will chime in. His Tiger has XR's and 500's I think. he raced it in the bimini race. Don't know the speed but there's something to be said of a turn key wave crusher.

Well, that there is my thinking. Like I said, if it was just me I'd be looking at your old boat (or one like it). I don't need to be Mr. BadAss (obviously from the past boats I've owned
).

Yea, it's gorgeous. There was/is a thread on here somewhere where the owner talks about the work he's done including the paint and motors and I think he swapped out XRs for the 6s if I'm not mistaken.

It looked a lot better when I had the opportunity to buy this from Harrison Marine for $76,000 and then offered it to a buddy who passed on it as well........for both of us it was just a timing issue and what we going on at the time.....had nothing to do with the boat.....nice ride a both prices..
