I agree, I don't know about the "Squirley" stuff myself. My question is more looking at the center of gravity, does the boat still fly level with the added weight of the #6 drives?

Not sure I understand why it would be squirrely with those drives. Nor why Cig would build it if it was a problem.

I will see if I can get him to chime in here.

I was on the 39' with 1100s, and it isn't squirrelly at ~118mph.

I just sent RedMatter a text he'll get on soon to answer everyone's questions.

Okay I have lots of info on these setups since I currently own an 1100 Turbo/M8 combo 39 that Cig built last year for me after upgrading from the 700 NXT setup from the year before. I also did the Stage II upgrades on the 700's but with limited seat time on the upgrades.

My 1100 set-up boat has awesome acceleration from on-plane to just about any speed. In the upper speeds, like 80, when you hit it she takes off like a banshee to 120. And that is the point......it is still acceleratring at 120. I have only gone about 120 on a number of rides and can honestly say it is rock solid to 120. Have no real info past that because I see no real need to go past that. It is propped for mid range punch and easily delivers.

Last season while cruising at mid 70's with other boats just hitting the throttles puts you back in your seat with awesome acceleration. No other mid-30's foot and larger V-bottom can accelerate with it at these speeds.

That is what I built it for. I love speed but acceleration is more fun when you need it. My 700 '39 boat was fun but mid range to high speed was not as quick. It was topped out in the 105 to 108 range. The Nxt transmissions are the wear spot in that setup, so you must be careful when upgrading power.

The M8 drives on the '39 make a huge difference. They are hydrodynamically more stable than the six drive with the high power and might possibly slow the boat down. But I believe it is a safer combination. Bud at Cig really loves the setup and has said this boat is one of the quickest accelerating Cigs he has ever tested. (And he has tested all of them for 20+ years)

I have 2011 39 with 700's and #6's and love it. The 6 drives make a big difference in the way this boat handles. WOT is 103 -106 drives like a dream. Don't know about the bigger power sure that would be great but I would definitely recommend the #6 upgrade.

How much more does the 1100's/M8 combo weigh than the 700/NXT? It cant be much, so I dont see how the handling differs nor how it would upset the boat when it launched. I would think if anything, the M6/M8 drives would help things, not hurt things.

And Red Matter is correct. Bud at Cig raved about the boat when we spoke with him at the Miami boat show.

103-106 out of the box. 110 takes some work.

Fastest I've seen a 39 w/t 700 run was 112. On the outside totally stock. The owner wouldn't say whether he did a reflash of some kind .
