OL's suck. They ride in the water like they're pushing nose down thru the water. Cigs have better lines, carry the bow much better and CRUSH way bigger waves. If I had $9,000,000.00 I'd buy a cig before I bought an OL. There's ONLY ONE #1....
The perfect size and rarity of the 33's is hard to beat. What you're doing to that boat is going to be nothing short of awesome! |
Many of the same reasons mentioned already. My wife's response when I asked her this question tonight.... "Cigarette powerboats are just sexy, who doesn't want sexy?" I think that sums it up!:evilb:

Funny, just the kind of comment HD types make about more modern, better engineered bikes. I have nothing bad to say about Cigs, loved the one I had, and admire their lines and the brand - it's just too bad that the entry level price has dropped to ten grand or so and the manners of some owners have dropped with it. Come to think of it, I go to a lot of exotic car functions and I've never heard a Ferrari owner say any other exotic sucks.

Calm down, dry your eyes, you need a tissue?... OLs are nice boats. IT was mostly a joke. You seem very important - you go to exotic car functions - WOW!!! Where are you now the polo club?

Cigarette really set the bar, they created the market and it was the brand promotion that made it a house hold name. I love all the offshore boats I think some are better then others and some do certain things better. With that being said I love how the Cig looks when it is sitting at the dock it just draws you in. I have seen little kids to grandmothers taking in by them it's just the way it is.

There is something about a Cig, even though mine doesn't have the killer paint job, just kind of a classy look it made the cover of the upcoming Sportboat Magazine and trust me there were some amazing looking boats at Desert Storm. Hell i bet my entire boat didn't cost as much as some of the paint jobs on other boats.

That's pretty cool. Yea! I can't see them putting a Baja on the front cover. LOL

I recently left the ranks of Cigarette owners and, while I loved my Cig for what it was, I am absolutely thrilled with my new (to me) OL. Someone equated Cigarette to Ferrari. As a Ferrari owner, I would say the comparison is more fairly to HD, and the relationship of my Old Cig to my new OL would be comparable to a HD to a Ducati. Cig has a great history and has done a fantastic job of capitalizing on its brand such that anyone should be proud to own one; that being said, there are other, lesser known makes out there that have made some performance innovations that are very attractive. My $0.02.
So, what would that make Ol? I would compare older ones to Lambo (before Audi took over)and newer ones to Lambo( after Audi took over). Quality much improved and consistent with a lower production hand built item. |
