ICDEDPPL , did you put spacers in your drives if so how much and did it improve planning ?
I have another question in post number 100 last picture it appears as if your trim rams at the drive are attached at two different locations am I seeing this correctly or is just an optical illusion . Not with standing the boat looks amazing . I am ready to mount the No 5 drives on my flat deck and without spacers the prop shaft should be one inch below the hull , I am starting at four inches below and will work ny way up. I am looking to find the sweet spot between planning and speed . Don't want have to do the 5,000 rpm shuffle to get her on plane .and would like to see mid 80's mph as well .

Rick, I'll try to answer for Dan. When he bought boat, drives turning "out", and propshafts about .5 above bottom. Planed like crap. 5k rpm burnout and took a long time. Then he installed 2" spacers. Still 5krpm burnout. Then switched drives to turning "in" . Boat planes at 3500 now.

I'd like to see what it would do turning in, but no spacers.

What you are seeing with the trim rams is correct, and Dan fixed that . Now they are in their proper holes.

Thanks Mild , I thought I was seeing things. When I last ran my boat it had No 3's at about 6 inches below the hull and man it would just walk up on plane at 2,000 rpm. I kow that won't happen with the 5's but 2,500 to 3,00 would be great . The one thing my 2 inch spacers have is a cavitation plate welded to the end of it and this suppose to act the same way it does on the 6 drive . My buddy also has 1 inche spacers that Gary Kofolski made with the cav plate extension integral, really cool piece . I will let you if the cav plate makes a difference if so Dan might consider having Gary make something or weld a hunk of aluminum on th end of the 2 inch spacer like the guy did on mine.
RG.

Yes. My other buddy has 3A's on his Flatdeck. Planes no problem.

Another problem is with the IV and V drives is they just don't trim "in" very far .
