going higher isn't always better. It depends on how fast you plan on going, a 70 mph boat will run faster and better with the drives deeper. The drive leverage helps carry the hull (this applies to straight bottom boats) and reduces overall drag. On a maximum effort setup looking to go over 100mph the hull is running out of wetted surface and running the drives high helps to reduce drag. From my experience at 90mph 1 inch below the bottom does not hurt you. In rough water at cruise deep drives stay hooked up way better.

Another factor is how much you plan on spending on props. 4 blades props run deeper than 5 or 6 blade higher rake props.

Go Arnesons and adjust your drive height on the fly.

KVOGT, I was concerned about this also. My flat bottom with 6's is set up 1" below the bottom. with 750's the boat will run 83. I wanted to raise the X dim to get more speed, but researching this, it may hurt me if I remain at 750 HP. If I go to 900's then it would better suited to raise the drives. Agreed?

IMO 1 inch below the bottom with 750s and going 83 mph, your drive height is not holding you back. Even with the 900s I would start with the drives where they are.

Doesn't your boat have a spacer in the drive now? If so try it without the spacers when you put in more power.

What is Old School's take on this - he drove the boat with big power and modest power. Experience is worth way more than bench racing.

Kris I think you should sell me your heads at a super price, desktop dyno says they`d work really well for me, plus you need something new for your new set up anyway.\
:D

Maybe kris should get some AFR 265 ovals. He might break his arnesons with all that torque
