Did you raise both drives while you had it apart???
At least I hope you raised the low drive. Not the other way arround.

Bill Dahl here in peoria told me 1.5-2" above the bottom but everyone else says even or just below so i hope i made the right choice going that deep. He has a 38' Sutphen with the same setup and Lambo's 1" above with 1600hrs on it that way. Time will tell. I just wish i could buy his motors

This is not a dig on the brand; as it has been discussed discreetly a few times here which is where I learned of it.

The transom/top cap of the Top Gun mold was funny for many years. There was an inch or more of difference side to side and you could tell when you tried to mate up a swim platform as some of them had to have shimms added to make them fit right. This could have something to do with your measurement being off orginally.

With modern hull designs, having plugs and tooling formed & cut by computer aided equipment; these discrepancies have been removed from all modern hulls. You do have to make sure the floor of the building is level before you start though. One of the oldest ways to do this oddly enough, is with a "water level"

....Hence begs the question: Which came first; the water or the boat? (Or Ark?)

Where are you beached at in the pic? Looks too flat for Chilli (plus no bridge) and really doesn't look to be bare-a$$ beach either.

With the Notched transom, my 4's are 1.5'' below the bottom. No boxes. Planing can be tricky, esp in rough water. Once on plane runs great.
