Bad fuel distribution at low speeds and the fact the other engine never stalls no matter how many times you shift.

mmb..you said that OSOers are leaving the boards because of ICCDEDPPL and MILD THUNDER??? Hmmmm......they are the only reason Im still here! You have to admit, they are very entertaining.

mmb is taking his baseball and going home. Ha!
I`d do some carb tuning. Fuel distribution because of a weld seems like a stretch . |
Building 1 perfect blower out of the 2! I will send those cobled up rotors to you and you can carb tune to your little hearts content!!
|
Dont stop updating. Its is great to follow a good build thread......you just cant take these guys too seriously.

You should keep updating it, I'm sure you have more likes than negative commentary.
|
Keep the updates coming. F*ck em. Don't let a few bad apples ruin your thread. Sick project looks amazing. Nice work.

Just rebuilt the steering cylinders last night! Installed all new curcuit breakers! My boat should be as mechanically reliable as a brand new one now!! |

dont you guys something better to do??? Does your boat not run??? Im about to splash mine and test new props!!!! Would you like to see pictures? Or maybe I should just carb tune so the old props will work again!!!! This forum is a f#**cking joke.. Im going boating! |
I got Mark 2 sets of 5 blades to try, the fours might go fast, but I don't run mine WFO, I enjoy the Cruise, for 100-200 miles per trip. They (Cigs)are to much to wash for any trip shorter. In my opinion. The salt takes a while to get completely removed.
I have a cool video from last trip but you tube is not helping. |

Hey! I recognize that one!
Could you smell the race gas?! Great weekend. Great friends. Lock & Load |
LOLOLOL you only know what you think happened, not what actually happened, while you were fixing your engines a second time I was out boating all summer with mine and no issues, yet I am the idiot? you barely had any time and had to redo yours AGAIN... hmmmm
mine runs great, already boated this year and again this weekend... apparently I did something right... carry on... lol

We had 80hrs on the old engines... Overheat doesnt really count as a 2-3 hour redo/blowup... Things happen with these boats. I already have 10 hours on the new ones. I rebuilt the entire boat last year, mechanical and electrical!! We spent $58,000 on this old thing last year and its finally getting to the standards I want it to be at!!
New Exhaust & Tail Pipes New Trans Planetaries New Engines New Carbs New Engine Accesory Brackets New Painted Valve Covers New Wiring Harnesses Boat New Wiring Harnesses Engines New Bilge Fans New GPS' Units both sides New 2 5/8 Gauges New Trim Cables New Tab Cables New Switches New Carbon Dash Panels New Glass Dave Hatch New Glass Dave Dash Caps New Water Lines New Fuel Lines New Sea Pumps New 13 Plate Engine Coolers New 9 Plate Trans Coolers New Hardin Bellhousings New Starters New Fuel Pumps Electrical New Circuit Breakers New MSD Distributor Ignitions New Stereo New Led Speakers & Subs Items Already done in 2016 New Steering Cylinder Rebuilds Extra Mega Blower New Props New Anchors & Lines New 60x24 Garage going up Happy to hear yours is running great! Cool story... Carry on.

I`m just mad cause our season is 2 weeks long, I`m still in the garage assembling 2nd motor , I won`t make any power with an off the shelf cam, I still need to build two 4 cylinder engines to power my roots blowers and I`m stuck in a half car garage!
Enjoy your boating Jerk! :D |

The lake is thawed up here, let's run these things. |
Well did any of the props help out?
|
Going to test them today! Let you know in a little bit!
|
Much better with the 30 Maximus 5 Blades. Cruise speed came up 5-6mph but I can spin them to 5800 no problem at all. ZP is going order me some 32 Maximus 5 blades! Should be almost perfect then!
Thank you ZP for helping me get the props dialed in!! |
Dragging the tabs a little in the pic to get rid of the flat water hop. But it is 60mph at 3500rpm's now with the new props!! The new props threw my carb tune off so now I get to go through that again. Ordering more jets and air bleeds until my 02 sensor is happy.....
Thanks for the help ZP you definitely know how to make these old Cigarettes pick up big time in the cruise department!! That was a 16mph gain at 3500 from the old props!! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...s8ynt7wlk.jpeg |
WOW....Great results
|
Excellent results
|
I think that big orange hand would have to on the 6 to be 60mph. :p
1.50 gear ratio? That be 21% slip @56mph The old set up must have been slip thru the roof to gain 16mph , wow. |
Reading comprehension isnt your strong suit is it lol
Made to much power again and the old props no longer worked.... |
Impressive pickup on cruise.
I would rather have the boat very usable in the range from cruise up to 95mph top end, rather than chasing the 100mph mark that may be done 2 or 3 times all season. I lost cruise going back down to the 30s, but I can get on plane. Cruise with the 32s was right on, but boat wouldn't get out of the water, took about a 1/4 mile. I need to track down someone with 32 5 blades to gauge the difference. Keep up the good work, I do enjoy seeing your progress, data, explanations, and pictures. These boats work well in the 65-85mph range. I haven't had it above 4800 rpm yet, and I like the results so far. |

It was a little better than that with the 32s, and even better the faster we went. Slip was way down into the 7-8% range so it was the right prop, just couldn't get on plane with the drives/engines mounted so high. Also, all speeds taken with drives trimmed all the way down, and using tab. Once you lifted the tabs, thing took off like a rocket. Will use this year to get all the bugs ironed out, then bump the power a little next year. All in all, pretty happy with the setup.

What ratio are those #5's? 7 percent on a straight bottom old top gun is pretty hard to acheive |

OK, call it 8+% then. They are 1.5 ratio, seemed to hook up better with the 32s, or at least more efficient when cruising (no grip at all getting on plane). Showing around 10% slip with the 30s right now.
Also, the 32s were labbed by Merc. I have no evidence to support this, but maybe they were pitched up to 33s? I've only driven the boat for 2 hours, had it out twice. I will take better notes so that I can compare. Joe, tried to call last week and left a message, I'll try you again. |

You may be right, I've never had the drives open to count teeth.
Possible they are 1.55 but not sure that then show worse slippage. They would have to be lower ratio to show faster mph, therefore giving a false reading of a lower slip (if you assumed they were 1.5 and were in fact say 1.35), correct? |
