AND NOW WE SHALL RETURN TO OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAM. ( lol)
I had a chance to get to the shop last night and do some grinding in the bilge to prep for the insert installation ( what a ***** still itching this morning ). I also have some pictures of the fitting of the insert . I made two wooden supports to hold the insert in place while I tab into place inside the bilge once that is done and cured I can grind outside and begin the external fiberglass work then complete the internal work .

Rick how many layers of glass (aramid) did you use to construct the insert?........can't wait to see what you got planned for the 27 sport......looks very professional!

Scippy I used 6 layers of biaxle stitch mat ( the weave with mat attached) I used alternating layers ,the unidirectional and cross directional weave . One weave gives longtitudial strength the other torsional rigidity . The finished product will be a total of at least 18 to 22 layers with Kevlar layered in the mix.

Not true at all. You may find it difficult but structurally it will be fine if you do it right. Good luck

Hi Parnel I was wondering when you would pop up. Thanks amigo, I believe when I'm done it should be stronger than it was originaly given the layup schedule and the additional bracing I am including.
The magnum is on the spring schedule , I am acquiring parts . I have 1 motor , all the exhaust . 2 counter rotating alpha ss drives . I will begin the glass and hull prep when it warms up . I am toying with the idea of doing a stagger but in the end will probably go with a side by side setup.
I think I will configure it as a sit boat thought .

Cool project....hope it helps the performance. I have a close friend that did the same thing to an '84 Kevlar Flat Deck, but he went with a larger notch like the Top Gun. Unfortunately, after running the boat for several years, he recently fabricated an aluminum plug to re-fill the notch. The difference is the boat has deeper #3's with 500hp and the notch intensified the porpoise. It also reduced cruising speed and created a need for more tab. The aluminum re-fill plug added cruise and ride quality in the lower HP/speed/drive height application.
Hopefully, the #5 and more HP will benefit from the modified notch. I think it would be very difficult to plane without it. Post some before and after performance figures when it's complete.
