Vincent called this morning Buck and I drove down to go over details on mine before he started. He took me in the other building to show me how slick your Bullet turned out. I was pumped for ya. Looking forward to seeing it on the water.

Spoke to him this morning for a few minutes. Your name came up a few times. That was the burning sensation in your ears. :)

He's wanting to get a finish pic of both the P29s he has side by side when they are done.

The pics are the only thing passing the time for me too. I'm going bat chit crazy not getting to see it yet. I think Carter is just s bad as I am about it. He gets to go up and see it before I do too. He sucks.

PS.....haven't forgot you on the gauges. I'll send a pm the second I get them out for you.

I'll get back to you on the "fun" part. :eekdrop:

damdonzi 01-28-2014 05:07 PM

Nicely done!

yschmidt 01-28-2014 07:59 PM

It's looking good, but we need more. About the only thing I come on here for is to steal ideas from these Bullet threads...and I'm needing more ideas/pictures. I have a weekend off and go home week after next, so don't let me down.

cfischer 01-28-2014 09:09 PM

Nice work Buck! Congrats on the new rig!

I'll post the pics as soon as I get them. If you want ideas, dig around in Carter's head. He has boats built in his head before he even sees them in person.

Based off what I'm hearing I'd guess we're looking at about 7-10 days of delayed programming before I get anymore progress pics. Hang tight.

I think Carter is still Recovering from the KC boat show!!

That thing is shaping up to be one fine ride.

Those motors are art!!!

She was sold locally to an up and coming Cigarette fan. We still have access to her. She will likely be tied up to us every weekend while at Grand Lake.

It was always my favorite 28! Love the simplicity of it. It just works.

Congrats on the Bullet. It's coming out aweseome!

We would need you to fill out an application first. We did not allow too many of you 'southern boys' on the nice end on the lake. :evilb: :evilb:

I couldn't agree more. Sean did good. That boat will always have a special place with me. Funny, when we bought the boat I felt like we were settling on a boat due to what we could afford. After running her in some decent water for the first time I quickly realized I couldn't have been more wrong. The boat just flew level and landed right in the big water. We loved seeing Cafe's and Top Guns give us a thumbs up when we were running with them. The boat just surprised people.

I had actually commissioned Carter to redo the interior in the 28 this winter. We had planned to keep her for a few more years. Then the Bullet deal fell in our lap and things kind of snow balled from there.

Here's a couple of pics of the old girl running. I have lots of pics of this boat we took over the last three years.

First pic credit goes to Heather Fink photography out of Grove, OK.

Lots of great memories on that boat. I'd put this pirate up against any rope jockey out there. Her and her sister make my life so much easier when we tie up. They know what to do and when to do it.

Agreed Q. I think we do need to spend more time hanging as a group. Lots of great hardware on the same lake. It needs to be seen together. We are all tied up on the other end just about every weekend together.

Yea man, see? Seeing those pics just re confirmed my original feelings on that little 28....just a sweet ride. Looks a lot bigger too. Great pic of your daughter. Can't wait til the boys get just a little older so we can buy our next boat.

Sucks you sold the 28 but when you look at what you moved up to its a no brainer.

Congrats again man.

Much, much respect for what you've accomplished with this boat! It's great to see someone doing exactly what they should be doing.

Pretty mundane question but what is the coating you used on the intake manifold and who did it for you?

Hope you have a great upcoming season!

Those engines are all paint. Brandon Smith painted them Brad Smith's son. That kid is incredible with paint.

Sorry man. Still in a holding pattern. Boat was supposed to be at upholstery shop on Tuesday of this week. The Midwest weather hasn't cooperated with us. Just got a message today saying she was being delivered first thing tomorrow morning for upholstery work. Until they start ending me pics I don't have anything new to post.

Flame away if needed. :)

Maybe we can con Carter into posting some teaser pics of some goodies he might be adding to it when he gets it.

Buck

Here you on the weather. It's snowed 3 times in 3 weeks in south louisiana. Been living through your build to get mine done lol.

Ditto what you said with the weather and watching your build. I keep looking at yours to kill the time between stages of ours. :) My wife says I need a life.

I'll call the interior guy first of the week and see if I can squeeze some teaser pics out of him.

buck183 02-06-2014 08:58 PM

I managed to dig something up. It's not much, but it's all I have.

Here's a before and after pic of the transom after Vincent worked his magic. We removed the air lines, thru hull fittings, and the water line for the speedo. Had all of those holes filled. The cheesy name has since been removed for good.

We have talked about cutting the round holes to match the The vents in the back. Small minor details but may make it look better the seeing the round through the slots.

There was something odd about the vents on this boat. We didn't have a clue what one of the previous owners was trying to accomplish.

If you look closely at the before pic you can see most of the vent area is actually blocked. Someone put a redish orange looking duct tape over the vent holes in the fiberglass then put the vent covers over it. They left one hole in each vent uncovered. We can't figure out what they were trying to accomplish.

caseyh 02-06-2014 11:37 PM

Idk trying to make it show red through them I guess. Seems to me the more air flow the better?

jbraun2828 02-07-2014 06:16 AM

Water will get in your bilge from those rear vents. When backing up in any waves, or coming off plane. Not the best design. Buck, your boat looks to have vents on the side of the hatch, which isn't stock and could be why they were blocking the rear ones.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.

I remember Carter and possibly Vincent speculating that may be the reason for someone covering them up. I also remember them saying they had never had that problem on any of the other Bullets they had owned. I do realize this boat may have spent some time on the Great Lakes and that is a completely different environment than what we run in.

Buck, this is not a threat so don't take it that way, but I am (have been) working in TX for the last year and a half, I'm going to finally have a slow weekend. People won't probably notice if I'm here or not - so I may have to make a run and get my own pictures (means I cannot work on my own boat if). Just saying you won't like me if I have to come and get my own pictures...promise that, but most people don't like me anyhow. Oh by the way this project ends in Mar, but I have got to come back for months to come...months. I can adjust my travel...if I have to...and you won't like me if I have to adjust my travel.... Not a threat. Hope things keep moving along great. Can't wait for more pictures.
