Just wondering what anyones thoughts are on it since theyre pretty much a dime a dozen. My #5's only have 2 seasons on them since all new gears, 1 of which with only 500s in front of them should bring 25k+, get a new set of boxes without tailstocks and weld a new rear plate in to have a fresh base to mount them to? Am I dreaming??? Are they any more efficient to turn? Or should I let well enough alone?

Mark(h20) has commented on the kaamas drives a few times in the Magnum section. Claimed they worked great on a cat he ran back in the day. Only down fall is getting parts. Pm Mark he is a top notch old school racer!

Dan MacNamara from Archer would be the one to tell you how well that would work. You'd need drop boxes because the Kaama's would be mounted much lower than your current trans output. They'd probably go even lower than your boxes would allow. I think it'd be a great project on your boat with your money, I'd love to watch. Kaama cutout pic.

Definitely. But I thought he wanted to sell his for 25k, buy the kaamas for 5k and end up with a surface drive boat and 20k in the bank. Of course he'd also end up with a worthless Cigarette but what the hell.

Bingo...it was just a thought. If I had all the money in the world I wouldn't put 45k worth of arnesons on a 45k boat no matter how much I wanted to. Maybe itd be a good second boat project then someday down the road
