Big day! Made it to Islamroda, my crew did a god job working down the liquor inventory in Tiki Bar. Incidentally, I haven't seen or heard from any of them yet this morning. :lolhit: Came up with boat name ' X-Factor'. This came after considerable debate (drinks) at the Tiki Bar.

Boat runs unbelievable. Hard to describe the acceleration this thing has. All I can say is it pulls and pulls hard. Ran it up to 114 it was still pulling. Had five people and 220 gallons of fuel. Suspect once we get the boat back on freshwater and raise water pickups it'll will run 120.

I will say this, boat is perfect. Only issue so far is the underwater lights are wrong color. Cigarette get an A+ from me.

Gary

LOL! Old School made me do it....

Was cool running into Greg at the bar.

jawbreakerkid 05-03-2015 11:32 AM

Wow! It turned out cooler than the other side of the pillow! I can't wait to see it at LOTO! I just spent last weekend in Havasu on a MTI w/ Mercury 1100 QVC4v's. Undoubtedly, they are a great engine package. Word to the wise....order an extra fuel pump to put in your spare parts box. Finding one is like finding a needle in a haystack!

Thank for the heads up. Are the fuel pumps prone to problems or just hard to get?

What maintenance is required on the fuel pumps?

duke252 05-06-2015 08:05 AM

After spending 2 full days on this boat, all I can say is WOW. The fit and finish is second to none and it handled flawlessly through the keys and some decent chop in Biscayne Bay. Given the boat is a $14k lb V Bottom, the acceleration with those 1100's absolutely blows my mind. Awesome ride :D

Here is a quick video I took at Gilberts on Friday.

39, are you doing the Old Hickory Nashville run? I signed up, hopefully I will have the boat buttoned up and go, looking for people to convoy with.

HaHa!!!!! We just got back home after an awesome trip to the Keys. Ironically, The Tiki Bar had reloaded by the time that we got there and then we did our best to drink it all!! :D Nice seeing you Gary, the boat is beautiful!!!!!!!! I took a few pictures and a short video of you all pulling away from the dock. Will post them after some rest and four or five gallons of Gatorade! ;) Craig

jima97 05-07-2015 11:21 PM

Gary were you rolling up 75 just north of ATL on Wed around 6pm? Msg me you cell.

chattviper 05-08-2015 01:02 PM

remove and clean the metal mesh high speed fuel filters on the motor. Every 25hrs.
replace the fuel filter/water separator every 50 hours.
I apologize i don't know the exact maintenance requirements for the fuel pumps. i was told take care of your filters and the pumps will be fine. so far so good.

It looks like Cigarette is using a couple pictures of your 42x on their web page.

Not fun....as in difficulty or $$$?

I'm glad to hear it has been trouble free for you! That makes boating even better!

For the cost of a new 42x it better be trouble free for a little while lol

Cigarette brothers & sisters,

Quick update on Project X. Great first season! Boat ran flawlessly. The 1100 / 42X package gets an A+. Didn't really press the limits but saw 120 mph. I suspect there's a couple more mph remaining as we never hit the rev limiter. What continues to impress is the quality that Cigarette put into these machines. Didn't turn one screw in 40 hours of use.

Hoping for a new build thread from someone to get me thru the winter.

Gary

Congrats on a trouble free season! Big HP always scared me because I'm not a mechanic. when I was doing Poker Runs 12 years ago most of the big power boats had a mechanic on board just in case, I saw many boats not make it to the destination. Good luck on next season.
Brad
