Default possibly #6s 38 Top Gun

I have seen several threads on this but my question is... is it worth it going to #6s? ... besides the cost.

I have a 90 gun that started off life as a TRS Hawk Supercharged boat and 2 years ago I converted it to a Bravo boat/H.P 500s
Now I have both motors out for upgrades ( going to Blown509s /750+) transom assemblies are out as well. .. I know the Bravos will be short lived.

found a deal on some wet sump #6s or go with boxes and XRs

so the gears are turning.

If you can swing the cost of 6's, buy them. Their is no question that they are much stronger than xr's. It comes down to a few things:

1. How long do you plan to keep the boat
2. Cost not only in the 6's but also cost to convert
3. Where do you boat (ocean or lake)

You'll never get your money back on 6's but that's irrelevent if you plan to keep the boat a while.

This isn't a debate. Wet 6's all the way I wouldn't even consider xr's

I agree there's no question if you can swing it, install the 6's. However, like most custom / aftermarket / upgrades / etc., you wont get your money back out. So it comes down to having piece of mind that you can nail the sticks in 6 footers holding a martini in your right hand and never worry about blowing a drive. ... I.E. The upgrade would be for YOUR benifit.

Thanks for the input. ... and I can't really swing the cost, However it will most probably happen anyways (slowly)

Not looking to sell it... its now like good furniture.
As far as boating locations... lakes, rivers and the most poker runs possible... last year I got in 6.

the drive cost are not too terribly bad, it's those freeking transom assemblies that are ridiculous

Friend converted his a few years ago
Loves it, besides piece off mind, it handles
Like a freight train on rails.

Said he would never go with less drive
Ever again.

With that horsepower, why not switch to scx w imco transom assemblies., youre good to 1000-1100 hp. less of a paint to rig and set up.

Transom assembly is still only so big, not sure i'd want 1100 hp hooked up and leveraged through the small bravo style t/a.

I would bet the wet 6's are cheaper than new scx's. What everyone's opinion on the wet 6's? How much power do they rob verses dry 6's
