I bought some intakes and carbs from Adam a few years ago and they were as described when they arrived. Have been on my motors for 3 years with zero issues. I know not related to drives but do not think he one of the guys out there over to screw anyone intentionally. Sometimes bad chit just happens and this time you are on the wrong end.

Would be very informative to see the intake temp differences between the roots and the Whipple.
Don`t have intake temps gauges do you? I wanna know if the hype is true with the Whipple.

No there are no intake temp gauges. Supposedly the 510r set will ship Wednesday.

I know the whipples and psi blowers take a lot less power to turn when talking 35-40lbs of boost.I think the margin becomes smaller though, at low boost levels, say 6-10psi. At 40psi and high overdrives, the difference in parastic loss can be in the hundreds. Most classes outlawed screws because of that.

As for "why anyone would build an engine with a roots" today, my guess, is cost vs horsepower. Lots of 1200+hp roots blown pump gas engines out there. If it meets the goal, it meets the goal.

A buddy of icdedppl's and mine, built a 10-71 setup, making 1036HP on pump gas with a 522ci, making 1.98HP per ci, with 10lbs of boost (with a pretty cool intake temp). Other buddy, built a 8.3L whipple blown, pump gas 588, that made 1200hp, 2.04HP per ci with 12 or 13lbs of boost. The combination of parts under the blower, helps things as well.

Typically though, I've seen a few guys claim at the 1000ish hp range, pick up around 100hp from swapping from a roots, to a big screw, with similar boost. My guess is from the lower parasitic loss of the screw.

On a roots type blower there is friction of the rotors that makes the seal. There is no contact with a screw blower so it takes less power to turn and creates less heat to compress the air. I've run PSI set up with 8:1 compression and 10lbs boost with no intercooler with no issues. Dustin will tell you that same thing with a Whipple at less than 12lbs boost.

Cannot wait to see the results of the 510r on your set-up.

First Gun,
I will take what I can get. It is somewhat of a longshot to get the boat, but will just have to wait it out.

ZP,
You guys will be burning the midnight oil getting ready for KW. A little birdie told me about your swap
deal! Another small project for you when you get back!
