Can someone tell me how the fuel breathers work on older (1994) top guns...long story short on the ride home last night our gas sniffer alarm sounded. Popped the hatch couldn't smell or see any fuel. I will say that one of our breather vents has a strong fuel odor. I'm wondering if the fuel vent smell is making its way to the engine compartment. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks bondo. Any easy checks? Was gonna check ground, etc. my fear is that it isn't the alarm, and it's actually detecting fuel. But I couldn't see or smell anything in the bilge. Even did a could smell taste test on the water in there...

Mine just kept going off. It would not go silent even when I muted it. Thoroughly check for fuel leaks/vapors and found nothing. Replaced it, and problem solved, until two years later when the same thing happened.

Went out on it sunday went off, muted it didn't come on again. It did come on over a bump, wonder if it's a loose wire. again checked bilge, smelled around nothing. Now it has me paranoid. Damn alarm. Guessing if there were an issue it would stink like gas. Cabin doesn't smell either.
