It should be said that how well a bravo drive holds up at higher power depends a lot on what upgraded parts you use and how it was set up. With set up being the key to success.

How does setup keep the shafts from twisting off?

I think driving style and water conditions matter more then anything to be honest... It's not new news that bravo style drives don't take much anise in a heavy Cig

Obviously a twisted shaft has nothing to do with setup, and yes, water conditions and the way you drive the boat has a lot to do with it. I guess what I should have said was that if you are running mild power (600 Hp +/-) a bravo that has upgraded internals and is put together well will probably live longer than one out of the box.

Everyone has an opinion. With that being said we have all read or encountered a Bravo failure or two on a Cigarette with moderate to big power. It's like trying to balance a bowling ball on pencil, sure you can do it but try dropping that bowling ball from 6" away from pencil over and over again. It's just not ideal.

I would be really curious to hear about somebody using drive guardians on one of these big heavy guns with bravos. I was talking to a racer this past weekend at a poker run and he spoke very positively about it. It would be interesting to see if they help on these heavy Cigs.

The drive guardian is a good piece and will save catastrophic failure but it won't slow down the wear of xr gear sets.

Ah, just buy it. Then spend tens of thousands of dollars upgrading like the rest of us end up doing. Welcome to the Cigarette support group, it's a nasty habit.
