I just purchased a 38 Flat Deck and am told that it has two 100 gallon tanks in it and that they were somehow connected via a transfer pump. What I am wanting to know is if there is a way to connect both tanks so they both fill evenly from one side or the other and if you can connect them via a manifold to use both tanks for both engines. I tried searching the forums but could not find the answer. Any help would be great.

You can make them however you want with some effort, ICDEDPPL Dan will chime in I am sure on this....

I believe the 84's have the same tanks as the 85 and 86's they should be 130 Gals each if they are original

Why not just run one engine off each tank and be done with it????

Mine were 140 gallon tanks. Not sure why or what you`re trying to accomplish thou.

Keep them separate, like they came from the factory. Especially if you run into fuel or engine trouble. 2 tanks are the way to go with an offshore boat.

Wow very interesting . I always thought that the total fuel capacity of the 38 footers was 150 gallons total .
My tanks have never really been empty and don't remember ever putting that much fuel in . I guess you learn some thing new every day .

I would want them separate. I like having 2 completely different entities in my boat.

Just fill them both to the top - then you know they are even.

Thanks for all the help. What I was wanting to do is make sure they both empty evenly and also be able to fill them both from one side of the boat or the other. I can fab a manifold to make them both drain to both engines and also be able to separate them if needed. I was just trying to come up with a good way to fill them both from either side of the boat.
