Knot For You: I have my reasons, rather not get into it . With Bowkers, I like the price( a lot) cleanliness of the shop, updates with pictures, communication and he`s done a ton bottoms.etc etc. |
Dang that's far away.

Dan are you going to round the end of the strake like the front one or just finish it off square ?

Looks like he`ll be finishing it square.. Ill know more when it`s done

The only reason i asked is being so close to the transom will it create a disturbance in water flow to props the front ones are rounded for that reason I am guessing .
Just a thought better to consider now before you are finished. I wonder if the notch I added affectively accomplished the same result as your strake sugary . Cheers RG. |
That`s a good point, I`ll bring that up to Martin. Maybe leaving it square acts like a tiny step :p
I`ve always thought the notch was designed to deliver cleaner water to the prop and to allow the engine to be raised even further then normal. |
You are probably right about the notch , it was a thought as the notch affectively reduces the wetted surface at the transom and I thought that might reduce stern lift some what . I am certainly no marine engineer .

The notch does the same thing as an extension box. And I believe he will end the strake with a sharp square edge. A square edge will cause the water to break clean from the hull. The reason the front one is rounded is it is easier to build the boat that way.

Tinkerer is right.
The best way from a performance stand point is the way shown in the photos. Other methods are used throughout the industry, but are typically done to make the boats easier to build and also less mold maintenance Progress: Previous repair: http://33outlaw.zenfolio.com/img/s6/...66888095-4.jpg Touch ups: http://33outlaw.zenfolio.com/img/s5/...46543777-4.jpg sprayed: http://33outlaw.zenfolio.com/img/s10...90346236-4.jpg In Gel: http://33outlaw.zenfolio.com/img/s5/...66929876-4.jpg |
