35 Mistress repower... take 3....
1 Attachment(s)
So as most know I have yet to be happy with my builds and found some issues that are causing me to replace cams and do headwork... changing a few other things..overall had a problem free 65 hours on engines but seen wear on cams so I tore things apart..
The parts choices and specs are in a good buddys hands that has mad much success the past 20 years of building, hoping for better results this round as he has never let anyone down on expectations.. The plans include: existing shortblocks untouched. Hand port and cleanup of the AFR 325 heads, new valve jobs and new springs, flow heads get real numbers Port and portmatch new Brodix HV2000 intakes send old cams back to get replacements and specs TBD still either going to short travel hydraulic or solid roller this time to get better results that is also TBD selling Scorpion rockers and going to use Comp or Crower as I can get good pricing Hoping if I stay HRC I can keep base circle the same and reuse my expensive Trend pushrods. same carbs 1050 Quickfuel 4150 style might convert exhaust to dry or find headers that me be following winter of 2017 as this cost is going to add up.. As for results? I would be happy to see at least 1 mph gain over what I had... plan to dyno again if the funds are there to do so... this is my last attempt at this to be what I wanted from beginning... I hope it's worth it since I am fed up with my build situation.. first pic of nice parts lol |
Well tim people say third times a charm or some chit like that. U wI'll get it right and both you and frick will have a good 2017. I can feel it
|
I hope so, I had a good season until I popped that trans... I boated EVERY weekend... but still annoyed at engines even thought no issues yet
|

Thx, I am using a buddy that builds engines with much success to do the work to heads and spec cams, not a salesman lol
I think lift may be similar to keep BC but duration I expect increase a bit for sure. this nightmare needs to be over.

I would imagine if the new cam has similar lift to the old the base circle should stay relatively close to the same so hopefully you can reuse the pushrods. I sincerely hope you get the results you would like this time around, it seems like you are on the right track. Good luck!

Nice intakes Tim. I have the dart intakes they look like they
flow better May have to upgrade. Cheers RG. |
Thx, these are supposed to be very good intakes, plus the portwork that's being done, I keep trying to not get my hopes up about results...

update as of now...
Cam motion says cams are fine, the marks would not have gotten worse, and some guys say they have seem much worse with no issues, that being said cams still being changed as out of 5 cam companies we have talked to all but one said 241/246 is too small for a 540 to see 6000 rpm especially in a heavy bot like mine.. heads are ported and flowed, looking at cams now, not releasing them details at the moment at least until it is decided, if at all.. lidters will be short trave HR, every cam company said thats the way to go with HR these days, or go solid... but I am not going solid. intakes cleaned up and portmatched to heads, compression getting bumped to 9.7 I am taking measures to ensure good ending results, I am not gonna deal with guys telling me I am a hack, doing it wrong or whatever, one thing I learned last year is everyone has an opinion and in the end I consider it all and process accordingly, I thank many for the help and advice, the hates, well go hate somewhere else, some want me to fail bad it makes me sick, I post my story for myself and others to learn from, not get my azz handed to me because I didn't take someones advice, I have a very succesful person involved so I think I will have better results, lets hope! Guys I been through hell and back with this and honestly am done with the negativity about it, telling me I am doing it wrong, I can't build engines and all that, they ran almost 2 full seasons with zero issues until I pulled things apart, I have addressed things that needed addressed and they are going back together, end of the story. The BS has to stop. |
Now we just need summer to come so we can start the Justin, tim, ron and Don party.... two cigs two donzis and a chit load of beer at the casino.....:evilb:
|

|
Lololollol
|
Hey Tim, I'd tell you about all the fun that I just had racking up hours on my outboard powered fish boat....if you would listen.....
....Tony |
lol I don't ever see having outboards... just not me
|
I will take 2 400s hanging off the back of a 32 or 36 cat. That could be fun. I seen one on here that was a walk through open bow that looked bad a$$ and would make for a sweet day boat.

Getting there... little by little...

My chick is moving this weekend. Sounds like I'll have plenty of Island time this year.
|
Oops?
|
Meh... I did everything I could do. Grew a lot and changed a lot in the last year. Love her to death, but she's gotta get past the past before we can grow.
|
Every thing happens for a reason. Almost boating time
