Cigarette Rendezvous 2017

I was wondering if there was any info yet on when and if this will be taking place?

Relaxing 01-19-2017 01:36 PM

The last word I heard from Brett was June 17th.

F-2 Speedy 01-19-2017 01:39 PM

Im pretty sure at last years Saturday evenings dinner event, Brett announced this would be held on Fathers day weekend again this year. Hopefully he will see this and chime in, looking forward to it.

I'm here to tell you, that boat on the right stole the weekend for me. I just could not get enough of it. Looked great both sitting and running. Thanks for the conversation last year. Enjoyed it.

you wont regret it Frick

frickstyle 01-22-2017 10:44 AM

Yeah I know, I just have a lot of travel plans already lined up. Not sure how much time I can take away from the office in June. Cali, Fla, Guat, Fla, NC and that's not counting Customer visits..... hmmmm.

Who wants to tow my boat down there so I can just fly down?

Hey, in my defense, weekends like this aren't worth talking about without a good story. Thanks to me we have a good story. :)

Can't wait to see it.

PBC, really does a great job with this event. Great people, great place, they make you feel very welcome.

However, for Skip to show up empty handed, in my opinion was not cool. The factory should have brought items, (coolers, hats, shirts, something, anything) for PBC to give away or auction off. Just dont be a little bird--- cheap, cheap, cheap. Just my opinion.

Agree, I hope the event T-shirts are a heavier material this year, last years you could almost see through them, Heck I'd even pay for them.

Any updated Bullet pics caseyh ? Looking forward to the finished product.

ICDEDPPL 01-23-2017 08:57 AM

Frickstyle, is that the normal stance of the boat at idle? (pic by casey) Seems so deep in the back.

caseyh 01-23-2017 10:08 AM

Little video on the thread from this past week of it. Posted last night

There's a lot going on back there, she's a pig.

I dunno? better?

F-2 Speedy 01-23-2017 11:22 AM

Im sure the COG has been effected by the additional weight in the bilge ? this may be a factor in your porpoising.

Well.... It's a lot lighter now with just one engine....

Anyone put sandbags in the nose, or is that a recipe for disaster? Stuff.

F-2 Speedy 01-23-2017 12:11 PM

How bad is it ^^^^^

frickstyle 01-23-2017 12:17 PM

Not ideal, have to drop diving board sized trim tabs into the negative to keep her level. That, or maybe I just need to slow down. I thought these things were "wave crushers", maybe going fast into big waves just isn't my thing?

I keep hearing the older boats are nose happy, newer hull tech is much better. Shouldn't have wasted so much money on this one, now I am stuck. Stupid boats.

ICDEDPPL 01-23-2017 01:14 PM

Ok the other picture was deceiving, it`s about the same as mine, underway more of the cig logo is below water level.

I wouldnt` agree with that, I think you just need more seat time and try some different props.

frickstyle 01-23-2017 01:40 PM

Yes, props may help too

Did you ever come across 18" diameter, I would assume those went with the boat? (Still mad you sold it, btw)

F-2 Speedy 01-23-2017 01:50 PM

hows the hurt motor, bad ? ^^^^

frickstyle 01-23-2017 01:58 PM

Yes, bad, total rebuild, new crank, rods, pistons, lifters and whatever the f*ck else needs replaced.

I hate this boat and it's stupid.

Drake22.250 01-23-2017 02:12 PM

Frick & ICDEDPPl you guys have some bad ass Cigs.... Frick it's frustrating just keep going!

frickstyle 01-23-2017 03:39 PM

^^^I hear ya, I'm not giving up, it;s just annoying.

Could have just bought stock Merc power and then make it a full season. Here's this winters list:
New engine
Pulled other engine and inspected it
Pulled drives and boxes off, rebuild tailshaft assy
Fix paint from a-holes banging into my boat and scratching it at raft up
Touch hup dash / dings
Maybe an AC?
Install O2 bungs in tailpipes

Lost track of the rest, I am sure there is more

Zero Patience 01-23-2017 08:54 PM

The stance looks perfect. It's a big drive boat.

The lighter shirts like the ones handed out are very popular right now. That material, and others like it, is all that most people wear now. They're great summer shirts due to not being so heavy. All the shirts we order for our events are made from a similar material due to feedback from recipients.

To add to what Zero Patience said about Skip coming in empty handed. I was under the impression the first year that Cigarette was bringing a full inventory of their swag to sell at this event. Basically give us acces to stuff we would normally have to order. My wife and daughters were all three excited to run up my credit card on a full assortment of Cig attire and memorabially. Would still love to see this happen. BUT, I wouldn't want to take any sales away Brett and his staff at PBC. Ultimately they are the ones that need to benefit financially from this event given what they invest in it to make it happen.

On the flip side, I don't expect Skip to give me anything. He owes me nothing at the end of the day. Him taking time out of his busy schedule to come hang with us means the world to me.

Buck

Donziben 01-23-2017 10:41 PM

The run is on Father's Day weekend again. Looking forward to it! Having Skip and Bud there to talk too is cool. The last two years have been awesome this year should be bigger and better! Hope to see everybody there.

Want to try to make it there this year if I can get a hall pass....would b great to get with Frick/Zero/and the rest of the Old School boys tied up together for some pics/dock racing...and a little runnin' of course!

Hang in there Frick!!!! It's all worth it the first time back out there and you roll into the throttles...it seems never ending but easy to forget about the frustration as soon as the sun n bikinis come back out!!

frickstyle 01-26-2017 08:25 AM

^^^True words.

I may make it up there this year for a lunch run. Do you run with Kevin/Unleashed? Also, my buddy bought a place up there, so we have somewhere to stay. Are you planning to come down to Erie anytime?

38Raptor 01-26-2017 10:08 AM

Kevin puts on some great fun runs....the August run is the largest, and gets bigger every year...would be the one to come to if you only make it up here one time. The fall fun run is usually a bit smaller but brings out some fast/cool boats....pretty sure we all were running 90+ and into the triple digits for much of the day last fall.

I want to try to make the Cig rendezvous this year...other than that, we have such great boating in TC area with the clean/clear water, it's difficult to go anywhere else in our short season. Shoot me a PM with ur cell

division1 01-28-2017 09:39 PM

Frick ,our 38 gun rebuild is coming along well, I'd love to drag it down the the event to the event this year

I have heard that during the Shoot Out they aren't so picky about noise levels on the boats. Not sure if this true but how are they for the Cigarette weekend. I don't mind the ticket but don't want to go to all the expenses to just be put back on the trailer and watch from the dock. :-(

Don't think you'll have any issues with noise. There has been quite few loud boats a the last 2 events.

F-2 Speedy 01-31-2017 06:57 AM

Agree ^^^^ let em bark

Quinlan 01-31-2017 08:16 AM

Let them Roar!! I haven't had any problems and mine is kind of loud :)
