Nice. I like your dual fill idea. Never seen that done. My tank is coming out too. Adding capacity and reconfiguring. They put the fill port at rear of tank so......., boat on trailer or at fuel dock, bow up. So tank will only accept 70% fill before over flowing! To do this I will have to remove port section of floor and notch or hole the stringers. |

He said taking the tank out was completely miserable. We are hoping the duel fill idea will actually work . We are also trying to decide whether to transfer fuel from the front tank to the back or have the engines pull from either tank. |
Ive pulled a few tanks and none were fun.
Worst was from Sonic #2. Encased in water logged, "closed cell" (what BS!) foam. As most are. Had to build a frame to hang come-alongs to lift from. I too considered adding a second tank instead of rebuilding what I have. If the existing tank was front fill I would have left it alone and added a second. Forgot I had these shots of the sun lounge I built for the same boat. Four layers of 1/4" foam w/layers of 2 oz mat between. Put the lid on top and weighted it down until cured then destroyed the mold to remove the lid. Came out great. Another trick I will likely use for my cabin bulkhead/helm reconfiguration is to lay up flat panels on a glass storm door I have. Gives you a mirror finish. Another boat that Ill have a bazillion hrs/$$$ in and sell for $19K when I get bored w/it. Let me invest some money for you ;)

Rear bulkhead and stringers extensions are done. They will get ground to shape then get laid up.https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...e3feba0a41.jpg |
New front fuel tank fits. We will add a bulkhead between it and the AC unit. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...f76a4b0d68.jpg

Fuel tank completed with twin fuel fills welded in and they are standard 1-1/2 not the 1-1/4 that was next to impossible to get hose and deck fills for. Also had the tank recoated with epoxy. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...4380ec5120.jpg

Transom is coming out now.................:poopoo: ... it was solid but just like the rest of the boat it had been patched in 100 times for the different re-rigs so it looked like Swiss cheese. So officially every bulkhead on the boat from bow to stern is replaced or reinforced. Bruce is also adding in new coring to the hull in the engine bay to reinforce it and to make it drain properly. I may need a ride on someones boat soon for some motivation

Luckily winter is coming for you? Lol
Judging by Snider's boat yours will be sweet when done. |

Still working on quotes for my new tank but first one included epoxy coated outsides. After seeing my last two nearly corroded through, I don’t know why they don’t all coat them.
