Ironmanwb will you be laminating all that wood you are laying down, cabin and floor. ie ( covering in fiberglass on both sides/ top and bottom)? I strongly suggest that you laminate the bottom side first and then laminate top and in tab in place. Or at the very least brush some resin over it to protect the exposed wood. Good progress so far and love the boat.

The cockpit floor will be the cabin floor is but the rest I'm not sure of. A lot of the stuff we pulled out of the cabin was original and had zero rot after 45 years so I don't really see the need. We are trying to keep the weight down as much as possible. Eliminating lots of unnecessary stuff old rigging and cobbled glass work.

We will make sure everything that will see a lot of moisture will be coated.

I told him to build it the way he build his own.

Trying to keep it simple and make sure when we start the next phase we don't have to go back and redo it.

If you were thinking of using epoxy to seal/clear coat wood exposed to the sun, must epoxies arent totally uv stable, meaning they will yellow over time if in direct sunlight. West systems has some stuff that is more uv friendly but I have even seen that discolor after while.

Anything that is exposed will be covered or gel coated. Still not sure what we are going to do for the cabin sole or cockpit floor. I want mahogany or bloodwood but I know that it is a lot more to care for.

Cockpit floor roughed in, 1/2 of the rigging moved over . Bulkhead cutout for new cabin door, cabin interior structure getting built. Batteries getting a new home.
