i think you take Internet forums a little to serious. Your chip on your shoulder attitude is why people give you chit all the time. Dan doesn’t go around saying his boat is the best because it’s his. We all love our boats as we should, they’re all cigarettes. I disagree with you when you say a straight bottom rides better than a t/s. I’ve had both and I prefer a stepped boat. Have you ever ridden in a 39? If so, I’d like to hear your thoughts on that hull. I’m not ever going to bash someone’s boat or tell them mine is better than theirs. If we were at the dock together I’d give you a beer and talk cigarettes all day. |
He was one of the first members and almost was suckered into being on the board when it all began.

Right on...maybe I'll meet up with him at an event...how about you drock?
Sorry this thread is going off the rails FF...never intended for all this to come up :duel: |
I’m used to it, no big deal. |
If I lived up your way Dickstyle and Brownstain6969 I`d be visiting Lake St. Clair.
Water always warm, storms seems to break up before they hit the lake, Tons of places to go and see, always a perfect chop, super clean water and tons of beaches.... never any crazy waves that prevent you from going out..etc etc I kept coming back there last year. love it. Too bad it`s too far for tim (like an hour?) lol It`s 5hrs for me but so worth the drive. OH and NO SNAKES!! (like Erie) https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...732a5a6088.jpg |
I do want to make a trip or two, but something always keeps me local, it’s a lot of work to pack it all up and go when I got tons to do here... I thought about trying to make the old school reunion this year we will see, I do 2 vacations a year with wife and certain other days through year so time off isn’t always doable for trips with boat, I need to be my own boss lol |
I have a 2004, 525's, total rebuilds with new cmi's. Drives gone through, new cockpit interior, Powder coated the swim platform, basically went through the entire boat. The last thing to do is run it down Lipship to redo the cabin, someone mention the head liner falling, who ever said that is right, lol. What I'm getting at is I have close to $200, 00 in the boat. However I was at Lipship at the end of last year when he was delivering a new TG with 565's. The boat sold for better than $500,00 (by the way it was a master piece, beautiful boat) Phil is the Man! I feel I have a pretty good value in my boat and I don't think you can make the case to make me feel differently.

Weight to power ratio plays a huge factor and my boat is 16,000lbs on trailer .Boat building methods were old school, none of the newer methods were available . So my boat will always be slower then a newer construction boat . Flat decks are tanks.

Dan, I'm in for a boat trip. None of the people around me want to go anywhere, POker Runs, trips, etc (take their boat). I'd be in for a trip and just may make that happen. It's always nice to have a second boat along for the trip in case of breakdown. Let's plan something if you are going this Summer.

Yu got the same boat ever drive it across a scale? Be interesting to know what your weights.
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...95261abb6a.jpg I do have a light layup or Kevlar boat and yours is a standard layup. |

My top gun was 13,300 on trailer with about 70 gallons of fuel total Kevlar boat, SSMIII. Tall deck irons NA |
Tall deck Dart blocks, aluminum heads, blowers, boxes and old Arneson drives with 16 inch drop boxes. We put the stuff on with a fork lift.
|
|
So 10,500lbs without fuel Kris?
That's super light. My 33 Baja was 12k on the trailer. I don`t know what you took out but it was a lot! lol My tanks were about 1/4 full at that weigh in. |
my tiger with 1/4 tanks, on the myco with my dually and myself a friend and our gear for jammin on the james run was just over 21k,,, before blowers and imco scx's
|
Looks like your stern is pretty low in the water, maybe even heavier than mine.. so it`s not a lighter drivetrain. Gotta be the Kevlar..and no cabin
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...b5b694eb7c.jpg |
gas weighs around 6.1 lbs/gal so 200 gallons weighs 1220 lbs.
That's what it weighed. It was on a commercial certified scale at a recycling yard. I disconnected the truck and pulled it off the scale so only the boat and trailer were on the scale. |

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...b5b694eb7c.jpg The only time I ran it with nothing in the cabin was the first weekend back in the water in 2011. I had to put 400 - 500 lbs of sand in the front to keep the nose down. Now days the sand is gone and custom cabin is in. My cabin is significantly lighter than the fiberglass liner cabin with covered plywood ceiling. |
That's right water is 8.4# but gas is 6#.
I should disconnect the trailer next time from the truck see where it`s at . |

That seems light. My 2009 dually weighed 8900 empty if I remember correctly. Aluminum trailer? Sounds like you didn't have enough beer and 80-proof on board. Yours is post-vacuum bagging or ppre? I can't remember what year yours was.... |

as i had said a few posts back, mine was the very first one vacuum bagged at the factory, so the weight reduction was worth it. on my survey it says dry weight is 9800
Nevermind. Ignore my previous post..... Is yours a 2000? |

Nice to know that a 2000+ tiger doesn't weigh that much more than my Cafe..... (If any)
|
Stupid question- Whats the difference in the "Vacuum Bagging" process vs the old way?

To the OP, idk if you saw this listing, but seems like a good bang for the buck. I don't know the boat. I was looking for a 35 T/S for a while, and ended up with a 35 straight hull. I don't regret it one bit, saved me a bunch of money. I just wanted a clean boat that wasn't going to be a project. Just wanted to clean it and turn the key. Anyway, hope you find the right boat for you. Good luck with your search! |
Yea I've been looking at that one off and on for awhile...which makes me wonder why it's still for sale since that does seem like a pretty good deal....Don't want to drop the "A-word" in here but the 41 that just came up for sale would be mine if I could swing it right this second...who knows..maybe it'll still be available when I'm ready....was also looking at that yellow one with 6's that was just listed but I think it's a little north of my price range and could probably find a T/S for not much more really....decisions decisions....at the end of the day I'm probably gonna end up with a straight bottom...hopefully I can find the right one!! There's plenty out there and cosmetics aren't as much of a concern to me as mechanical...I can change the cosmetics over time but if you have a weak or tired power train you're screwed and you better bring out your wallet lol...even with me doing a lot of the work myself I'm still probably 10-12k plus into my ONE motor in my Nordic...solid motors and preferably not bravos or it has SCX's on it already as that's another huge expense that I don't mind paying a little more for upfront just for the peace of mind.

Good example of a seller asking near the top of the market and unless the boat has been gone thru recently will need a lot of money thrown at it to make it good again... https://www.offshoreonly.com/classif...fi-o75266.html engines = 10-14k drives = 12k exhaust = ? |
