jets, valve seats, floats, seals…hell, I don’t know, that’s why I have to pay someone to fix them lol. All I know is they were puking fuel so stuck open. Over 1500 rpm, ran terrific. Idle and starting, not so great.

yep! That will be the plan when it’s time to rebuild or repower. But that’s the plan for sure.

Some guys are dumping the Holley's for Proform's. Basically, a Dominator in a 4150. Very tunable and billet metering blocks and tunable air bleeds.

Yep EFI is the only way…

If carbs work then I`d leave it alone.
EFI isn`t easy or cheap.

Kinda why I was just going to wait until a rebuild or repower. the carbs have been fantastic thus far. And I do believe the prior owner never had any issue with them at all. Actually, I've been super happy (and a little surprised) at how well-mannered the boat has always been around the docks and running. Fires right up. Idles smooth, shifts in and out of gear like butter, not dying, not stalling, nada, EVER. Until this incident. Hoping the rebuild brings them back to their original state and running capacity. I've actually always had carb'd blown motors except for the 496 mag HO's that were in the cafe. I've never had issues with carbs. I do understand the benefits of EFI and wouldn't mind switching to them, just going to do it when the time is right, not try and Frankenstein the current motors.

Running ****ty under 1500 RPM can be something as stupid as a piece of debris clogging an air bleed. Used to happen to me occasionally. But if the carbs havent been touched in years...probably a good idea to have them freshened. And if u send them to a reputable shop (Carb Shop, Davinci, Pro-systems, ect ) you could be surprised how much better the boat runs after you get them back!

I don’t think they’ve been touched since central power and rigging restored the boat a few years back. Although, it was barely used since its restore, sat most of its life since. I don’t think they’ve ever been touched. It got about 12 hours a year on it since completed. It was time for them to be gone through. Hopefully 🤞 it all goes well. I don’t know where Barrett sent them but he’s top notch, they’ll be getting treated well.
