LOL....Not that much actually. My kid tells me we hit 85 but the blowers were barely starting to whine! :drink: Drives were bellow neutral and I was dragging some tab to combat the rough bumpy water. Good little blast though for sure.

Got some cool swag from central power and rigging in LOTO. They’re the ones that restored our boat. They sent out some parts too including the original red flame arrestors. Pretty cool.

Going good when I have the time to work on it. Transom is out and the new Coosa is cut and ready to go in, drives are polished, tabs completely redone, and a new raised hatch is mocked up and the mold is almost complete. Engines are all fitted just need to assemble the top ends. I have been taking pictures and will post all the progress when I get the time. Life sometimes seem to get in the way of the toys.

Is SoCal getting the tsunami warnings too? Hope the boat is in Havasu, if not, away from the shoreline. Hope it's not as bad as the media is making it seem.

We did get the warnings and yes, it was a big nothing burger. We usually never have issues. There has been like two times in my whole life that the water did anything funky during a "tsunami warning". It's usually just tide rushing in and out of the harbors like it doesn't at Haulover. Not like a huge surge but more like a rapid change in low tide to high tide is all.

Boats out here in Cali. Heads back to Havasu in Sept., I'm guessing.

New boat tower has arrived. Wifes truck.

Can't wait to try out the new 10 speed Allison while towing the boat. Although, I hear the DEF system destroys fuel economy while towing. Makes total sense - save the environment while using twice as much fuel.

The 2005 in this thread is for sale if anyone is interested 159k miles $20k

The DEF systems does. My buddy has a 2016 and the system failed. It was going to be over 10K to fix so he found a shop to do the delete and get rid of some exhaust restrictions. He got a solid 4-5 mph better, towing or unloaded.

Maks no sense to me. Use twice as much fuel in the name of clean environment? I'm not too stoked about the DEF BS but we'll see. If the laws change in Ca., which I hear they're supposed to soon, I'd consider deleting it after the warranty lapses. For now, I'll deal with it. I specifically got a 2024 because I hear they're pretty dang reliable and don't have the issues some of the other years had. So far, absolutely LOVE the new truck though. Can't wait to tow with it. It's going to the offroad shop to get a 6.5" BDS lift, 20" method 803 wheels and 37" tires along with some AMP steps to dump that step bar. :D Gonna see how it tows like that but if it sags at all, I'll install air bags and on board compressor. I'm just thinking it wont sag since it's a 3500 and has the helper springs, coupled with the fact our boat doesn't have much tongue weight I don't believe with the 6's and big ass motors out back and extended tonge to accommodate the ladder. We'll see.

I was told just this week by someone that has a new 6.6 Duramax they got 6.5 MPG towing a larger Outerlimits! I got 12 plus towing our Cigarette with the 2005 and got 24plus MPG highway / non towing. That part sucks!

Fortunately the current administration is doing some things in our favor IRT emissions and such, recognizing all the downsides. Someone has to see the forest through the trees, pretty much literally. DEF costs, plus the plastic needed, shipping (more diesel), etc. PLUS the reduced diesel mileage. It's all crap. And I hate to say it, but big oil is fine with it too. They are fine selling gasoline trucks and diesels with poor mileage. Europe is AWESOME with their abundance of diesel automobiles. I'm not moving to Germany, but that would be a huge plus for me to consider it.

With the delete I think he said 14-16 MPG (Better Brad lol) pulling a 35 ZR DONZI on an aluminum trailer. Not the heaviest boat or trailer, it's a cheaper AL but still pretty good mileage. I was getting 9.8 with my F350 and 7.3 gas.

ICDEDPPL 08-02-2025 01:00 AM

I got maybe 1 mpg better towing after it got deleted...( 9-10mpg towing) Even the jet boat is abour 10.5 MPG and that thing weigh nothing about 2-3mpg empty.

New diesel cars pretty much dead in Europe, too.

Direct injected gasoline engines are as efficient, are nicer to drive, and you don’t need to deal with messy diesel pumps when filling up.

SecondWind 08-02-2025 06:08 AM

I have a 2024 GMC 3500 SRW (Duramax) with about 70K miles on it. Towing to LOTO for the 4th of July from IL an emissions light came on and reduced max speed to 60MPH. After so many miles it warned me it was going to reduce my top speed to 45MPH and I need to get the emissions serviced. I stopped to fill it up with diesel and topped off the DEF tank which was about half full and the warning light shut off. On the way home we saw a pickup pulling a camper driving around 45MPH on the highway where the speed limit was 65mph. It was a busy highway with cars and trucks whizzing by this camper, dangerous to say the least. My oldest son said he must be having emission issues🤣. What are we doing??? I love the truck but the DEF system sucks. I get 8mpg pulling a 34 Powerquest.

Helmwurst 08-02-2025 08:43 AM

The lift kit, tires and wheels are going to cost you a bunch on milage too. Once you hook up "The Devil", you probably should have just gotten a sport semi for just towing. I've always said for years if I was going to tow a large boat across country, to buy an older semi, cut the rear member off of it, lower it down and go with that. Their milage is not that much different than a 1 ton dragging a large load and much cheaper to buy. I had a cousin retire from trucking last year, sold his custom Pete for 40K, with a polished reefer trailer, probably had another 200,000 miles left in her before it needed an overhaul.

Compared to what used pickup trucks and cars sell for, that is a bargain. Could use the trailer when defrosting the fridge…

I don’t like to hear that at all!! 🤦‍♂️😞 we tow in 100 plus degree weather too which is hard on everything. We’ll see how it goes.

yeah. The lift and tires are NOT gonna help anything lol. I’d love to have a slammed Pete! We looked at buying an F650 but one drive in it the family was like, nope. Rides like a dump truck.

that’s awesome!! Yeah, these new trucks creature comforts are over the top plush.

Air ride on the big trucks is pretty good these days, especially with a single axle and only towing 20,000 lbs ish.

Go ahead and order the bags and wireless one compressor if you are lifting it. My lifted 3500 Denali with single wheel sagged just hooked to the 33 without air bags.
