Thank you very much for the info Tank and F-2 Speedy.
Very helpful but it seems you found a Unicorn or the # are off |
Tank,
Yes that is the boat that I am considering, but would need to be updated. Yes F-2 Speedy the numbers could be a bit wrong because they were very hard to read. |
Having a hard time finding specs on the 35. Is the 38 a deeper freeboard than a 35?
|
That’s not boat #1 for sure.
the 35’s were just shortened 38’s. Freeboard is basically the same as a TS gun. this was hull 1 https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...0c700904c.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...fd16c3f3b.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...14b9679da.jpeg |

Maybe H2otoie (Dan) will chime in. He can give you some first hand input. He had a really nice playboy (and a newer TS gun). |
Thanks for the info.
Old timer owns this boat since day 1. Says it runs mid to upper 80s with 525s. Sound about right? |
I've owned a '98 38, a couple newer 39s, and now a new GTS. Just think this would be a good entry boat for my kids. Been around boats their whole lives and think it would be a good sound entry boat.

The Playboy is an awesome boat but different than a 38 in only a few aspects,
Freeboard is the same, Cockpit is identical as is the engine compartment fuel tanks are smaller, 35 gets on plane way easier than a 38 35 doesn't have a cleat half way up the deck like a 38 35 doesn't have a notch in transom like 38 only foot and a half difference since a 35 is almost 36' long and 38 isn't quite 38' Playboys came with 500's not 525's All 35 in 01's and 02's were called playboys( 12 total) of which a couple have been destroyed, in 03 they were called a Mistress My playboy ran very flat and handled great but the ride of my 08 38 was better ( 38 also had single belly tank) Since its a twin step it needs to be treated with more care than driving you 98 38 since it will spin out like all the newer boats with 500's it would do 84 in the right conditions, low fuel, only two people etc, 80 all day long |
Appreciate the info very helpful.
This boat originally had 500s, but he had 525s installed 130 hours ago. Doesn't seem to be abused just totally outdated. What do you think top end is with 525s? |
